I'd chalk this one up to Poe's Law "Without a blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of extremism or fundamentalism that someone won't mistake for the real thing." People don't realize it's a parady because it's not funny on the surface. Edit: Athene plays his role completely straight faced so people aren't aware it's a parody. A shitty act imo, but an act nonetheless. | ||

Like, it would be a parody if he yelled at teammates in all caps about how good he is, while simultaneously playing normally and sanely, but instead he just acts like an asshole in game (from what I can tell) 100% of the time, he's a jerk to his viewers, and his youtube videos are extremely self-centered and asshole-ish. Could he be a really swell guy off camera who volunteers at homeless shelters and builds orphanages? I mean, sure, but all anyone who interacts with him in game, on stream, and on youtube sees is an asshole. If it's meant to be a parody or something, this is basically the real life version of Flanderization. | ||

You can't really hate on athene with how much charity work he does with his act. Hes legitimately saving lives every day by streaming. Dunky is something that is really hit and miss but it grew on me a lot. SivHD was also like that but with a lot more hit but a lot less content. Destiny has his little cult of fans, hes a shitty person, and has no redeeming qualities. Idra called him out on his bullshit in SC2 and thats why destiny stooped playing sc2 ever again. | ||
