Of these, the middle 4 teams are in a quarterfinals, and the top 2 are seeded directly to the semifinals. If a team is eliminated in the quarterfinals of the playoffs, it drops down to the 'promotion' matches and needs to re-earn its LCS spot for the second half of the season. The 7/8th place teams are also going directly to these promotion matches. So at stake for the middle 4 teams are their LCS spots - not exactly a comfortable place. Top 2 are safe from this, and also in a much more advantageous position to win the mid-season playoffs.

I take it there's another "promotion/relegation tournament" at the end of the full season too, once the teams sent to the world series are chosen?

It would really really suck if they were Bo3.

With how much is at stake right from the first round, they really should be BO5s.

Don't get me wrong, I love Ziggs in ARAM's and think he is a fun champion but I don't think is overall as strong as other picks. Which is probably another reason why pr0lly deserved MVP, he helped breathe new life back into the team in what some could argue as sub-optimal champs. Also If they can perfect the timing on the Shen/Annie combo then that could be a fiercesome initiation uniquely their own. Ziggs lvl1 aoe damage is 80 undivided damage to all targets hit, I'm going off the top of my head but I don't think anyone can touch that and lvl1 basically won them that game, so the Ziggs pick went pretty well for them. (not to mention he has some of the best autos for any ap lvl1 thanks to his passive, great range, and a good animation) Even that aside Ziggs is a really good champion, theres just ~112 to choose from and sometimes not played by pros = I have a champion for that, don't need to dedicate time, not this champion is garbage. (also even in the post game Pr0lly himself said he thinks Ziggs is 2nd tier but unfamiliarity gives him enough of an edge to make up for it, an opinion I disagree with wholeheartedly on both sides but his opinion directs itself to your point as well) As for the "player of the week" being more of a "spotlight player" I don't really have any qualms with that, who wins player of the week really doesn't even matter, if I could reword my post I'd say, I feel like I'm losing my touch if I thought that Pr0lly played well but not even the best on his team, because I respect the opinion of the TL writing staff, but I see we basically agree on all points other than definition of player of the week and to that end I'm ok with it.
