E can kite, but cast time can screw you over. I think they're relying on Anivia walls to keep Varus safe.

Anivia had some nice walls these games. Always stopped the retreating team and isolated targets.

Anivia is like Blitzcrank in some ways. One skill changes the dynamics of teamfights so much. Although has more weaknesses than Blitz.
