As of about a month ago, LoL just breached the 1 billion total played games mark. But according to the managers of a Chinese gaming platform, they've clocked 5 billion total games of DotA 1 played in the last year (DotA 2 only clocks in at a measly 43 million since closed beta started). Edit: though I'm guessing the LoL 1 billion figure only counts matchmade games--if you count completed custom games (tournament games, arams, etc.), the figure is probably significantly higher and more comparable to the reported Chinese DotA figure. Still unlikely that it exceeds it, though. | ||

Normal draft is fine but the Q times are stupidly long compared to blind picks. I recently hit 30 on my smurf and I tried using normal drafts but it's ridiculous how long it takes to get a game. It's similar to 2k+ ELO where Q's pop every 5 minutes and people dodge all the fucking time. | ||

As for the hours played thing, there are probably some caveats to it. For one I doubt they'd even count DotA there. Most of the big DotA hours played numbers come from China and use pirated versions of WC3 making them entirely worthless from a business perspective. They are only going to compare to other online games using the official platform, because that's what really matters (again, from a purely business standpoint).
