even if you don't care for any of that, Scarra this week added a lot to the program, going into depth about his scrims with the korean teams and their playstyles. Moletrap has the same problem as he did in BW: he really doesn't know a lot - both in knowledge and in raw skills. Every time he says "Player XXX is doing YYY but I don't know why he is doing that" or "I think this champion's Q also has this effect but I am not 100% sure." it ticks me off. I actually played against moletrap once and I felt that he is a mediocre player at best (I think he is 1300s Elo). He can talk a lot, but I don't think he talks well about the actual game. There are casters who follow the scene closely. Phreak is a very good player who also follows the scene since that's his job. LOL good one

I don't like riot casters some of them are good at casting but the used car bullshit grinds on me after a while

I think we can all agree caster who used to be players before casting have more knowledge about the game than ones who pick the game up within weeks of casting it later.
The trouble with getting former high level players to cast is they also have to be interesting to listen to.

No the problem is more that there are basicly no former pro players with an interest in casting atm since the entire scene is so new.

This season his top Elo was 1912. I am sure he can be better if he actually played more, but I won't argue about that. Regardless, to say Phreak is not a "very good player" is a troll move.

Love it when Kobe casts... would be nice to have him do more tournaments.

Gandhi has 2 accounts over 2k (gandhisauce and remissim)
Phreak is one of the most pitiful excuses for an 1800 player. He is really just not very good.

Phreak was really good before S1 (he got hired because of it I believe...), and then he and stayed at around 1800-2k (which was much better than it is now) during it. I don't think he still plays much tho, unless he has a smurf that he managed to keep secret.
http://www.lolking.net/summoner/na/20124880, his S1 smurf, top elo over 2k
Because he recommends shit builds oriented at new players doesn't make him bad lol.

Game knowledge aside, Phreak's casting has two major problems:
a) He pretty much usurps all the attention. I'd attribute this to his background in WC3 solo casting, but whatever the reason it's bad when he edges out his co-caster and they don't say things. This is pretty clear when he casts with Rivington--Phreak pretty much dominates the casting, and Rivington only really gets to chime in with awkward interjections (made more awkward by the fact that he's often wrong).
b) Related to a, he misses shit. Because he tries so hard to do both the casting and the commentating at once, Phreak often focuses too much on some detail, and then misses a kill or some more important or interesting event elsewhere. This is the precise reason that professional commentary is done with 2 or more people. The commentator can focus on the nitty-gritty details, while the caster focuses on following the action and conveying the excitement. It's a huge problem that Phreak takes over the casting the way he does, because regardless of whether or not he's a good player, he's definitely not a good enough caster/commentator to do two peoples' jobs at once.

They just need to have the analysis necessary, and if they're dry, they can easily be counter-balanced by a strong caster who IS good at conveying action and excitement. It comes down to the dynamic between the caster and the commentator.
Finding a caster and commentator that can work together is obviously no easy task, but it's IMMENSELY harder to find someone who can do both at the same time.

Not even Day9 goes it alone during tournaments.

Yes, I believe this is correct Using TL's time conversion feature, 20:30KST = 11:30 GMT (+00:00) Edit: had the wrong time
