The Champions Feedback ThreadGeneral Warning: Do not caster bash in this thread. If there's something specific you don't like about OGN's casting, use the Feedback thread above for constructive criticism. Otherwise, don't comment about it. ~ Neo, 30.03.12, 20:25 KST |
The English commentary makes no sense to me.
Sure, the Koreans have to be noob friendly because they're broadcasting to a large TV audience but the only people watching the English broadcast (outside a few BW fans who are tuning in just because it's OGN) are hardcore LoL fans who don't want to hear shit like "And that purple circle, that means they have baron buff, which makes them stronger!"
If these guys are serious about reaching out to an international audience they need to pick up the phone and give Jatt a call (or someone else who understands the game at more than a basic level) and drop the ultra dumbed down approach.

Well, as well as dumbed down information, there's false information.
Moletrap claiming fed Morgana is «waaaay scarier» than fed Kennen... >.>

A fed Morgana is a lot scarier than a AD kennen like the Kennen last game was.

Easy there tiger. This is the first OGN LOL tourney, Its like a trial run. Actually I am surprised that OGN has an English commentaries at all. You should be thankful for that.
The other thing is, unlike SC:BW or SC2. Korea currently is not no1 at LoL so not much people outside Korea will watch this/pay attention to this if there is no EU/US team playing. If thjis first one go on to be a successful tourney. I am sure the next will have top notch English commentaries.

Yeah I agree basically, this isn't advertized well and thus only the people who know a lot about the game are watching it. In fact I'd even say that a tournament like dreamhack with the streamlink in the client is going to have FAR more players who are new to the pro scene but really, even they I'd expect to know something about the game.
It's just ridiculous to introduce the champions in a commentary like this. Beginner commentaries should be seperate as tutorials or something and in tournaments you should be giving tournament level commentary to people who watch tournament level play.
It's like in ice hockey saying things like "And in this goal you want to shoot the puck into the goal" and when someone makes a foul they're not going to say "oh interference is against the rules because you interfere the people" etc. and that's broadcasted to millions of poeple.
Really if someone completely new to the game is watching they generally have a friend sitting next to them or at least in msn or facebook who they can ask something like that from.

Intro feels a little out of place? haha Looks all sci-fi (more appropriate for SC) than fantasy. :X
Random nitpicks.

Just started to watch the lol games since it's OGN
Used to play dota few years ago and never played lol so I only have basic understanding. Any other special things lol has and dota hasn't that a newbie should know of?

Oh it's not female caster but someone else.
Q: You are considered contenders to be winners. How do you feel after winning. A: We had a lot of small mistakes and felt that we 'lost' in that way
Dude behind loco (Madlife?): usually I diss loco but I won't because I got two kills on my own.
Girl asked to say something as it's being broadcasted globally.
Top dude: today I had a headache so I couldn't really play my full potential well.
Q: You've said on an interview you fear nothing. How did you feel about the opposing team? A: I'll stick to my words that I've said before.
Didn't hear the question, but Cloudtemplar says he's like the ketchup on big mac (that's exactly what he said). He adds 'flavor' to the team.
Jungler? They just fumble in the jungle right? I'll show people that there's finesse in jungling as well.
I'm missing stuff T_T
I heard Hippo was a dark horse but we'll continue to show why we are contenders.

Loco awkward as usual.
"We feel good that we won, but we made a lot of mistakes."
"We're not bashing the other team. We're criticizing ourselves."
"I usually bash Loco a lot, but since I am the only one who died, I have no comments today."

Loco is gonna be such a Korean superstar, especially since he's a fluent English speaker.

Speak for yourself, I'm only watching LoL for once because I wanted to check out how OGN were going to do this, especially given they are giving space to English casters.
