[DivS] EU Season 2: Power Rank

Div S Power Rankings

EU Season 2

Written by: Koznarov

After a five month hiatus, Division S is back with its second season. The top level Western Heroes of the Storm league is here again to bring us exciting games and a thrilling competition!

Like the HGC, the European Division S has a promotion-demotion system where the seventh and eighth place teams from each season have to defend their spots in the Crucible. Last season, those teams were Go Next and Divine Vendetta (now back as Memeldors Meme Machines). Besides these two teams, Team Russia and La French Team forfeited their seeds and expanded the amount of spots at stake in the Crucible up to four.

The Crucible featured Go Next, MMM, and six teams with the most points from four open qualifiers. These teams which qualified were Kiikoo Combo, Feel the Heat, pepeMLADY, Disgusting, Wheel of ORDAH?, and Schuifpui Schavuiten. All of them fought hard to earn the desired Division S access, but Feel the Heat and Kiikoo Combo defeated them all through the upper bracket. With their backs against the wall, the Go Next players defended their spot...but MMM couldn’t do the same and lost in the last round against pepeMLADY.

There has been, however, a last minute replacement of one of the eight-teams list, Leftovers. They were replaced by the 5th team of the Crucible, Disgusting—another Polish team.

Now, we’ll meet the teams participating in this second season of Heroes Lounge Division S.

Legendary Tier

Washed Up

Washed Up won Division S in the previous season. Even if only HasuObs remains from their original roster, this team is still a powerhouse. The French scene grew a lot during 2019, and this growth incidentally led to roster restrictions which required teams to have at least 3 francophone players. Washed Up has been here since the very beginning. As Ménè and JayPL phased out and retired, Mascarade, Daykwaza, and BananaH slowly joined the team. The team has already played some tournaments with this lineup and shwon that they’re as fearsome as always.

The whole of 2019 was a back and forth fight between Washed Up and Granit Gaming. After parting ways the Swedish organization, Henn1ng and his boys took back their original name, which is an anagram of “Lauber’s fanclub”. The team is keeping almost the same roster they fielded last season. They added QopenHagen and Cris to the lineup. Unfortunately, Cris won’t play the Heroes Lounge tournament and is replaced by Svampgrotta. The fanclub is probably the strongest European team at the moment after having played together for more than a year and displaying a great synergy and individual skill in every game.

Epic Tier

What does the photographer say

At this point, the all-Swede roster of What does the photographer say (formerly Wind and Rain) has played with most of the top-level Swedish players. They’ve showed a great consistency no matter the lineup and secured the Top 4 in almost every European tournament. Unfortunately, they couldn’t win any of them. Will they step up and defy the top two titans? Well, let’s hear what the photographer say.

Kiikoo Combo

[image loading]Skewubi
[image loading]Slaide
[image loading]YasuOTP
[image loading]Iksir

This new all-French team comes in after the disbandment of La French Team. In fact, the team is lead by a former LFT player, Kolios. At the Division S qualifiers and Crucible, they destroyed their opponents while dropping only three maps in a total of 13 Bo3 series. They’ve shown immense strength, but we haven’t watched them play against the top European teams yet so we don’t know yet if they’ll be able to keep up their meteoric rise to stardom.

Go Next

[image loading]Chelvin
[image loading]SirIceCream
[image loading]Fury
[image loading]Ultralisk
[image loading]Skynox

In the first season of Division S, Go Next fell down to the Crucible. However, they didn’t surrender, kept fighting, and joined the HeroesHype Premier Series after trying to improve game after game. Only Chelvin and Skynox remain from the original roster, but their reinforcements for the second season of Division S look great...they even picked up a former HGC player, SirIceCream.

Rare Tier

Feel the Heat

[image loading]Wit
[image loading]Dynouh
[image loading]XraYY
[image loading]Tobos

Though Feel the Heat might be unknown to many Division S fans, they have been part of the European scene for a while now. They played the whole second season of HeroesHype Premier Series and made it to the Top 6. Their run through the Division S qualifiers has also been a successful one, and in the Crucible they defeated Go Next to claim their spot in Season 2.

pepeMLADY

[image loading]theWilQ
[image loading]RydzuSA
[image loading]GoreRider
[image loading]defcioo
[image loading]Diler

The Polish scene probably grew more in 2019. Even if it doesn’t look familiar, pepeMLADY has its roots in some of the most important teams of that scene (not counting Leftovers) in the past year: Hold my Beer and Ujemne Win Ratio. They eliminated former Division S MMM in the Crucible, so other teams should keep tabs on this underdog.

Disgusting

[image loading]Harpun
[image loading]Sartuas
[image loading]Itrax
[image loading]Lavekall
[image loading]Ruciass

The last minute replacement, Disgusting, has an important role to play in Division S. They have the leftover spot of Leftovers, and even if nobody expects them to perform as well as their compatriots, that’s the position they’re suddenly in. Although the team just came together recently, the players have been appearing sporadically in some tournaments, mostly in the second half of 2019. They managed to reach semifinals in three of the four qualifiers, and now that they’re in the big league, we’ll see how far can this team go.

If you want to check all these teams, you can’t miss opening week of Division S Season 2 on Tuesday, Jan 14 6:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) and Friday, Jan 17 6:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) at Khaldor’s. Feel free to share what you think of our ranking or even make your own and tell us!

Did MMM and Disgusting play for the spot, or was it just assigned to them?

Unfortunately Nothing Left have decided they are no longer able to compete in this season of Division S, and therefore the next highest team from qualifying Disgusting will be drafted in to replace them. They impressed viewers during the qualifiers where they reached the first 3 semi finals but were unable to win the critical final match in the crucible.

That's official statement, so not clear if they played for the spot. However they don't have any match against MMM in their HL game history.
