Anyways, I think you guys are considering the thread to have some rules when it really doesn't.
The only one is "counter the image". If anything, I'm breaking it now by typing shit. But since it was sorta requested of me to explain myself, I can't resist doing so.
There's no mention of whether others have to understand the counter, or whether I need to understand the previous one in order to post another one, or what time period should pass between posts.
You can make claims about the "spirit" of the game, but that can mean different things to different people...they have their own reasons for posting. Maybe someone posts because they want to play riddles. Maybe they just want to see what kind of response they'll get. You could even choose an image just because you think it's cool, or funny. Who's to say what reasons are valid?

The one rule is "Counter the image". You haven't been following the one rule properly. It's not like it's a huge deal to me, but it kinda ruins the point of the thread if you can't follow that rule. Just look at urboss' posts.

Maybe there should be formal rules? Or maybe we just let this thread die for a couple of years, until someone feels nostalgic enough to resurrect it.

There have been some really cryptic counters, the one rule "counter the image" can't apply to such cryptic examples.

You guys crying are stupid, there are millions of counters to every image because there are no rules. There is no "stumping/waiting to solve" there is only the next counter. If something has to be explained it's because you guys don't have enough references to understand it, unless it's urboss who doesn't even know what this is

Yes there is. Tanukki's picture is immediately reminiscent of the "before/after" Crystal Meth images that are used for drug campaigning. Maybe you haven't seen those, but it's impossible in this game to be sure that everyone gets it, especially when using pop culture references. The Crystal Meth association also wasn't far off because we just had Heisenberg. If you just translate the pictures to words, you get "drugs -> before/after". So knowledge of the Meth campaign wasn't even needed, it was understandable as soon as you recognized the weed as weed.
Generally speaking, in my opinion using short (!) explanations in spoilers should be allowed, if not encouraged, because the most obvious counters often tend to be boring and ... well, obvious, while the more obscure ones can be more interesting and at the same time completely valid once you know where they're coming from.
