[fitness] stretching equipment

not sure what to call it... peck flexer?

it looks like this:

if someone could give me the proper name for it, or a webpage with info, or just tell me....

how should i go about exercising with this thing safely? AFAIK it is intended to flex pecks and arms

i lay on my bed, hold it out above me by the handles with it centred over my chin + shoulders. then try to move my hands outwards towards my sides

however, it feels awkward and felt like it was causing unecessary strain to the wrong parts of my body (eg shoulders)

it is possible to remove some of the elastic to make it an easier load

The movements youre describing would indeed workout your shoulders and back.

oh hrmmmmm im sure it was advertised as a chest muscle worker -_-
i wonder if there is an alternative way to use it
perhaps i can tie it to something and cross the elastic over so i am pulling rather than pushing it

Yeah, unless you are doing it like a bench press except your arms are going like this \ /.

hey this is actually possible, i guess that explains the protective foam over some of the elastic. i already have a nice dumbell set tho :D

Works middle of your back, and the back part of your shoulders. It's called a resistance band, but I think the one in your pic has metal coils? I vaguely remember using one with metal coils vs the rubber elastic bands.

this isn't really stretching equipment? based on the motion, agreed that this would def work your back and shoulders more than your chest...because the motion is going outwards you're contracting your back muscles and relaxing your chest
