And if I check any of the menu shit in firefox there is these black boxes after lots of options. ( right now I am typing in firefox with this italics font shown in the SS, very lame)
I went to: desktop > properties > appearance > advanced , and changed it all back to MS Sans Serif (that is the default classic font right?). But still this shit remains.
In case you are wondering, I uninstalled left for dead and it gave these 'tahoma/arial font failed to uninstall' retry, ignore, abort. I clicked abort and this shit happened. wtf?

Please provide more info what exactly is wrong (just italic in FF? or bolded things in windows? and i dunno how that spore2012 looks usually), then i can prolly help you

get a copy of arial.ttf from a friend's computer in c:\windows\fonts
delete your copy and replace it.
edit: i can't remember if you have to restart or not though, i think you would

I just got home , am gonna try it. I just noticed winamp has the same shitty italics font too.
Weird, I installed the arial font that was in the left 4 dead folder, and everything was blank. (lol) then I uninstalled that and reinstalled the original windows arial font and it's fixed (without retstart). Thanks for the help!
stuff is still bold in windows and bookmarks/tooltip lists though. Gonna try it with the tahomo font now.

I don't know what I did but the fonts are fixed in the tooltips and the aim window now. But the bolded ugly font is still there for firefox and it's bookmarks, and pop up windows and stuff from windows.
Tahoma won't let me delete it or overwrite it.

The problem is that some registry entries got corrupted.
plz check some things:
go to "start" --> "Run..." and type "regedit"
go to path: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts" and check if the reg entry "MS Sans Serif 8,10,12,14,18,24" has the value "sserife.fon"
also go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes"
and tell me if the reg entry "Helv" has the value "MS Sans Serif"

I had exactly same problem some time ago with screwed fonts all over the place. Everything was fine once I reinstalled Winamp.
I swear to god, that's all what I did to fix exactly same problem. I couldn't remember at first what exactly I did until you mentioned winamp, lol

This problem started when I uninstalled L4D and it asked me some shit about fonts.

ok I found this, and changed the font name back to 'MS Sans Serif.fon' http://toastytech.com/files/sansurfh.html but it doesn't seem to be working >.<
