I'm not going to go trawling through the cesspool that is Ben Shapiro's Twitter to look up the tweets I read earlier for somebody who refuses to argue in good faith anyway. Believe me, or don't, I really don't care. User was warned for this post

He believes that so called gender dysphoria is an illness. He also dismisses all other interpretations of gender as biologically incorrect and therefore wrong. How is that the same as saying trans people shouldn't be allowed to exist? I googled Ben Shapiro transgender to see if I could find what was being talking about. This is one of the first clips that pops up It's only 2 minutes long and he says 1) he's not in favor of the government banning adults from transitioning. 2) twice he says that if people think a sex change surgery will improve their gender dysphoria then more power to you, go for it, and 3) if he's at dinner with someone who is trans he won't go out of his way to call them by their biological sex because he thinks that's rude It seems if one believed "we shouldn't allow trans people to exist" then at a bare minimum you would want to ban doctors from performing sex change surgeries and you wouldn't respect someone's pronouns even out of politeness during dinner. But I suspect the "Ben Shapiro thinks trans people shouldn't be allow to exist" is more along the line of "Ben Shapiro doesn't conform to all of our ideas on gender and therefore he wants genocide for trans people" that is quite typical and expected these days. + Show Spoiler + But I haven't seen or read everything Ben Shapiro has said or written which is why I was asking for more information.

That notion was absurd from the beginning.

And "that notion" has been true since the beginning, for some reason the only people who can't see it are you and Drone.

And then when BJ shows you that you are probably wrong about Shapiro, you say that you don't want to talk about it anymore because you don't like Shapiro ("I'm not [...] trawling through the cesspool that is Ben Shapiro's Twitter") and you don't like BJ ("who refuses to argue in good faith anyway"). That's pretty funny when you think about it. User was warned for this post

There have been times where he explicitly equates sex to gender, and other times where he (correctly) doesn't. There have been times where he dead-names people and purposely uses pronouns not preferred by an individual, while other times he's been somewhat respectful to trans people. I can't think of a time when Shapiro has said that trans people shouldn't exist (to me, that implies that trans people should be killed, or perhaps simply staying in the closet or not allowed to transition, if I wanted to be super charitable). I don't know if his understanding of trans issues has grown at all, but he's definitely inconsistent at best, and is definitely not an ally of the trans community.

That's not an argument or evidence as to whether it is or is not an issue, nor what to do or not to do about it. Trump has been alive in 9 decades of American history, and I hesitate to make an unfalsifiable assertion but if there were an alternate universe where he came out today and had a rally about building the wall, I daresay the alternate you would be here posting that he's out of touch and needs to move on from the same old slogans he came up with 8 years ago. Politicians do adapt to the times, whether sincerely or not, including the current president. Essentially, nobody on the planet at this exact moment in time needs clarification about his views on the border and immigration. The GOP is all on the same page on that already. You say "not a peep," yeah, it's not super urgent for him to remind the country what he thinks about that right now when he's in the middle of federal indictments on his birthday when he's the main political opposition to the party in power. If you're interested in what Republicans think of the border, you can watch any number of Congressional hearings grilling DHS Sec Mayorkas and others as to why the administration is unwilling or unable to address the border in a satisfactory way. They've been looking for answers for probably over a year. And are now officially investigating his performance as a prelude to impeachment proceedings. Joined the idiotic anti Bud Light thing etc Here's a recent video about him losing his mind about rainbows + Show Spoiler + https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEPOZH9_fyg Not really interested in watching this whole video, care to sum up the radicalness of it? Seems like he is mocking the corporate virtue signaling campaigns for Pride month. Ever seen the mashup that's been done of corporate websites for Pride month in the western world vs say the Middle East? Corporations care about profit, not advancing LGBT rights. If their pride campaigns went from boosting their ESG scores to hurting their bottom lines they would scale it back immediately as we saw with Target and Bud Light. If anything that sort of insincere virtual signaling is worthy of mockery. Also have you considered that 3 years later Ben Shapiro and others are more vocal about this because our society has been keen on making it more ubiquitous particularly to schoolchildren? We now have schools where they fly the Pride flag every day just under the American flag. There's a video going viral right now where a math class is shown some kind of Pride video and the students are told to shut up and threatened with detention for objecting. 3 years ago in Math class we probably just taught Math, as radical as a concept that may have been.

You can make the same points about corporate cynicism and ‘rainbow washing’ without making disparaging comments about trans people every 15 seconds. Hell plenty on the wider left have the same view on it. If one’s response to society being more visibly tolerant of x, y or z is to be a bigger asshole about it then most pretence of being tolerant and non-bigoted becomes pretty tenuous. There’s a degree of reaction and counter-reaction across the board, ultimately the trans issue especially has been blown out of any kind of proportion, one that modern conservatism devotes an inordinate amount of attention to. And yeah as a riposte folks will rail against that

It is so odd that they are so proud of such obviously dumb plans. So much so that the intelligent people have to pretend to be dumb and ignorant to fit in and win votes. He’s probably inconsistent because he needs to check the latest Facebook meme and TikTok’s to know what he really mad about and is destroying the nation this week. Movement named after freedom which jumps on every opportunity to curtail freedoms is unbeatable in this category, it is simply in the league of its own.
