edit: sorry missed this. We aren't here because they are investigating trump, we're here because they raided his residence. let us try not to minimize this, its extremely important.

But just not this time because in this case Trump is so guilty (pardon me, involved in so many lawsuits) its okay. Gottcha. edit: sorry missed this. We aren't here because they are investigating trump, we're here because they raided his residence. let us try not to minimize this, its extremely important. Mar-A-Lago was raided because one of the dozens of investigations running against Trump. And yes its extremely important, but not for the reason you try to attach to it. Its not 'omg someone raiding a former presidents house'. The important thing is that no one should be above the law. Trump should not be untouchable because he is a former President, as much as he wishes he was. The police should be able to investigate political figures if there is sufficient cause (and by god there is a lot of cause with Trump). And someone will always be in charge of the police, and those in charge could, in theory always use the police to investigate and damage certain political figures. I don't think there is a setup where there isn't a potential issue in some case, somewhere.

I dont think we should worry about any republican response to the raid. Their responses are all in bad faith anyway. As long as the DOJ and FBI feel good about what they are doing and checked the right boxes itll all work out in the end. We make too much of a fuss about what traitors to democracy think.

The D base seems to love it, if there is something there (which we can reasonably assume) it is justified. So who actually remains to be pissed off by this? Trump cultists and "Independents" that never ever would have voted Democrat anyway... What a loss.

Movin on @Gorsameth - let me preface this by saying, I don't know why , I don't think you do either. I agree no one should be above the law. Hate to be a stickler but for "The police should be able to investigate political figures if there is sufficient cause (and by god there is a lot of cause with Trump)" can you site some causes that you think would be worthy ? your choice on the source that would justify a former presidents residence being invaded(investigated/raided) ? "Mar-A-Lago was raided because one of the dozens of investigations running against Trump." its similar to above personally I don't think you or the forum would let me get away with hand waving into the wind saying it "hey pals its one of many who knows its what ever but lets just assume its one of them and their all justified right" so could you give me a hard example that you've seen printed that would rise to the level of this that you'd stake your flag on. its my last post of the night but good chattin either way this shit is legit wild we'll see how she pans out i expect I get nicely roasted in the hours to come lol.

Agencies tend to not comment on ongoing investigations, we hand wave it away because there are so many investigations that one of them justifying a raid is easily accepted. We will find out in time what the reason was and if its a shit reason it will come out aswell. When you take a few seconds to seconds to consider the facts, its not hard to give the FBI the benefit of the doubt in this case. If tomorrow they raid Bush we can ask questions wtf is going on.

He was legally required to return documents that belonged to the government after he stopped working for the government. He did not do so. They went to pick them up at his house. Because that's where the documents were. This really isn't that complicated. The White House have made it exceptionally clear that they weren't involved in this and didn't know the FBI would do it. It's not a part of the general investigations into Trump, he kept shit from his old job that belonged to his old employer and they took it back. Conservatives are trying desperately to turn this into some persecution narrative where they're being victimized but this just isn't that. It's also not a part of some epic takedown that will suddenly lead to Trump being in jail because again, it's just picking up documents that should have been returned when he left office.

Basically they build a narrative that it's practically irrefutable that Trump attempted a coup/committed crimes and then lose to him with no way to ensure a democratic peaceful transfer of power away from Trump.

Also Trump: I plead the 5th. Trump Says He’s Taking Fifth Amendment in N.Y. AG’s Asset Probe Donald Trump is declining to answer questions by the New York attorney general, invoking his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination as he sits for a deposition in her probe into potentially fraudulent asset valuations by his company. “Under the advice of my counsel” Trump said he “declined to answer the questions under the rights and privileges afforded to every citizen under the United States Constitution,” according to an emailed statement released shortly after he arrived at the attorney general’s office in New York City Wednesday. “I once asked, ‘If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?’ Now I know the answer to that question.” The deposition -- which had been delayed a month because of the death of his former wife Ivana Trump -- comes just days after Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence was searched by federal agents investigating whether the former president took classified documents from the White House. In a post on his Truth Social media account, Trump said his “great company, and myself, are being attacked from all sides.” Trump and two of his children, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump, agreed to each sit for as many as seven hours of sworn testimony, after losing a court battle to quash the subpoenas. The deposition may still last for hours, with Trump repeatedly asserting his Fifth Amendment rights in response to questions. New York Attorney General Letitia James is investigating whether the Manhattan-based Trump Organization manipulated asset valuations to secure more favorable terms for bank loans and insurance, as well as tax breaks. Don Jr. and Ivanka have already undergone their depositions, according to a person familiar with the matter. James’s office declined to comment Wednesday. Eric Trump, the former president’s son and an executive vice president at the Trump Organization, was deposed by state investigators in 2020 after fighting in court to delay the questioning. He invoked his Fifth Amendment right to avoid incriminating himself more than 500 times over six hours, James said in a filing earlier this year. Trump has previously derided the use of the Fifth Amendment, saying in 2016 that “the Mob takes the Fifth.” The Trump Organization has long said that the investigation by James, a Democrat, is politically motivated, though every attempt to convince a judge of that argument has failed. Trump sued James in federal court to try to block the investigation, alleging her animus toward him was proof that the probe violated his constitutional rights. A judge dismissed the case. The former president was held in contempt of court and fined $10,000 a day as part of the same investigation after he failed to properly respond to a related subpoena for documents and records in his personal possession. Trump resolved the contempt finding after racking up $110,000 in fines. James’s civil investigation is running alongside a criminal probe by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Bragg’s office brought charges against Trump’s company and its chief financial officer last year, alleging unpaid taxes. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-08-10/trump-to-be-questioned-by-new-york-attorney-general-wednesday?utm_content=business&cmpid=socialflow-twitter-business&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=socialflow-organic

In the years of lurking around and about it’s always been pretty obvious to see which way this community leans. Seeing Democrat voters literally broad brushing Republicans and even just right out behaving like they can afford to say anything they want on here compared to those who were pretty vocal about voting Rep who usually do end up getting banned. So yeah, just from observing, several people on here should’ve been banned here long ago but haven’t because they’re in line with the majority of the community here in terms of political views. Someone who even attempts to show that neither side has clean hands and bad apples and whatnot usually gets the stick. Honestly one of the reasons I refrain from taking part in any discussion on this thread, not worth getting banned just because your views don’t align. Says a lot about the moderating side on this website. Probably what that snugger dude who funnily enough got banned meant by double standards, can’t blame him. Just my 2 cents, won’t go into a discussion as we all know how that’ll turn out so I’ll just stick to the gaming related stuff. 🙂

Basically, went against the thread rules and got banned for it. Right-leaning folk that engage in the discussion in good faith and source their content don't get banned. I don't think the moderation is as one-sided as you make it out to be.
