The question now is if Big Don will use this to attack Bernie, or wish him well.

@Fueledupandreadytogo I very highly doubt that trump will wish bernie well. If he comments on it at all he will probably just talk about how unhealthy democrats are and how he himself is the healthiest person alive and will live to the ripe old age of infinity.

And I do think that is most likely to happen with Bernie involved - either his supporters not rallying behind whichever other candidate, or some of Biden's supporters not rallying behind Bernie. Warren I think will be palatable to both crowds (maybe less to the Obama - Trump crowd, though), especially if Bernie drops out without any foul play.

But I do think Warren would be the most left leaning president since FDR, and I think her solutions seem to be about as balanced between good and achievable as they can be, and the worst outcome to me is a democratic primary that gets so ugly that supporters of a losing candidate end up not rallying behind the winner. The left has a cannibalism problem. Bernie supporters seem to hate Warren more than Biden lately. It's extremely stupid. I'd prefer Warren drop out and endorse Bernie, but Bernie dropping out and endorsing Warren is also totally fine to me. And if Bernie is having medical issues at his age, I am given extreme pause. As others have noted, doctors don't perform heart surgery on a man his age on a whim. Any time someone his age is put under, it's a big risk. They did this because it was necessary and that's just dicey to me.

Also, apparently there is a "urgent" meeting with the State Department IG and congress folks over what is rumoured to be retaliation (or threats of it) from Pompeo to anyone who cooperates with the impeachment inquiry. Also, apparently the IG is turning over some State Department documents. There were rumours from when Pompeo was the CIA director that he essentially bullied CIA staff, so I wouldn't exactly be shocked if he was doing something similar now. edit: that meeting is over and wasn't about what anyone was reporting. Apparently the documents turned over were a bunch of documents related to conspiracies involving Biden that were from Pompeo (Pompeo claims they were mailed to him). Raskin, one of the house committee members just finished a press briefing on it and sounded fairly annoyed about this meeting, saying that the state department IG claimed it was urgent, but it was clearly not.

I'll have to give it a watch. Dems say State watchdog gave us 'packet of propaganda' Instead, Democrats say the packet of documents handed over by the State Department watchdog mentions former Vice President Biden, Yovanovitch and CrowdStrike, the cybersecurity firm that investigated breaches at the DNC in the lead up to the 2016 election. "They appear to contain long-debunked theories and false statements about the former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine and one of President Trump’s political opponents," said Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), whose staff attended the briefing. “These documents provide further evidence of a concerted, external effort to conduct a disinformation campaign against a career U.S ambassador, who has been the subject of baseless attacks, including by the President himself," he added. It's unclear where the documents came from, though Democrats quickly made clear after the briefing that they suspect Rudy Giuliani, Trump's personal attorney, was involved. A Democratic source familiar with the briefing said that the material appeared to come from the White House. "Those folders contained notes from interviews that took place at Rudy Giuliani’s NYC office with various Ukrainians about debunked conspiracies related to Ukraine. This was just another attempt by the White House to peddle Rudy Giuliana conspiracy theories," the source added. Who do they think they are fooling when they pull stuff like this? Also announced today were apparently a bunch of new US tariffs on goods from Europe. This is on the same day US markets dropped drastically on fears of a manufacturing slowdown. I would imagine the EU will counter these tariffs, which would cause more damage. I continue to not understand why they keep throwing more and more tariffs on everything.

My theory is that the tariffs are being used as a way to surge the markets at an opportune time. Imagine if Trump cancelled ALL tariffs tomorrow. The stock market would go through the roof because we are basically used to operating under these stupid conditions. If all of those magically went away, perhaps right before the general election, with Trump declaring "mission accomplished! no need for tariffs anymore!", it would make him look amazing. So that's likely his plan. Declare victory without actually getting anything, markets go crazy, "look how dank my economy is lol" and hope he wins.
