 This is so ridiculous what does her being a lesbian have to do with anything. i hate shit like this everyone's all extra incensed because she's a lesbian, and it's all over the headline and everything, but it has nothing to do with her sexual preference. women do this shit to win back men all the time. | ||

Sometimes it seems as if there's literally no way to defend against it. It's like a witch hunt almost... people hear a girl cry rape, and immediately a man's life is forever scarred, whether he was physically capable of committing the crime or not. At least this person got caught. | ||

I'm not saying that women make up these tales so that someone can go to jail, but this shit was so stupid. Did they even give that man a DNA test for rape? | ||

First of all, the public cannot be told what to do or not to do, and if some of them had to have experience rape before or have relatives who have or whatever, their reaction is totally understandable. Here in Germany, the way things are handled have changed greatly because of this typical public reactions. We've had several cases of child abuse/rape/hijacking where the culprit got better treatment than the victim, oftentimes giving the family of the victim a hard time coping with the whole procedure. There has been quite alot of discussion about all this, and as a matter of fact things have to be changed. Imo this is not acceptable anymore, but then again, it is understandable that vigilantism is not right, either. Shrug. | ||

It's not about getting worked up; look at the title of the article, the title of the thread etc. The fact that she's a lesbian is as irrelevant as the fact that she's white. Would we ever have a thread/article called "white woman falsely accuses man of rape" or something? I doubt it. | ||

Even if he is aquitted/ the charges are dropped, people still think he did it and intimidated the victim to drop the charges. I think we need to keep this in mind next time we hear a man accused of rape. | ||

But like you said, if people have experienced rape before or know someone who has, that pretty much puts their reactions into question. If a person really is innocent, he could be really screwed by the people who have experienced such a thing before. They'd more than likely be dying to see a rapist fry and think much less about whether it was a legit case. People can get riled up too easily. Anyway, I just think that more care should be taken into these matters. I don't think it's right for a culprit to get better treatment than the victim or anything like that. But I think that there isn't enough time spent in actually proving whether or not someone is guilty. In some cases anyway, obviously not all. But personally, in the U.S. I don't feel like this is anywhere close to as big of an issue as age of consent laws are. Those can be horribly abused by some girls and can harm a man pretty badly too. | ||
