I don't think the point is about that particular picture; it's more about the people who think they have an absolute knowledge about where the line between funny an cruel is. This is no absolute, and you're not necessarily right just because you are more "sympathetic" with human grieve.

A think that annoys me is people that use lol for no apparent reason. Often in the end of sentences that are mostly observational. "haha" works better becouse it can be spoken but lol cant (not counting children that still go aorund saying it) since you would be busy laughting instead of saying it. I have posted about this before and I guess I'm alone in thinking this but still. Using lol in the right context is still funny like when you parody east users ect.

for reference, my stance is not one that it is ethically correct to post the picture, but rather that it is not ethically incorrect to find the picture funny.
