https://wwws.whitehouse.gov/petitions#!/response/what-we-have-say-about-legalizing-marijuana I am mad. Outraged even because the hypocrisy of this response when tobacco is LEGAL makes my brain explode. I have signed all the petitions that have sprung up in response to the government and will continue to do so. It isn't much but goddamn it's something. + Show Spoiler + Please do everything you guys can; even small things. I've convinced people who have never smoked that it isn't actually "dangerous" but needs to be used wisely, just like alcohol. I've explained and pointed out the idiocy that is outlawing things arbitrarily ( one over another since both are "dangerous" ) It seems once they stop and actually consider how things are and how "the war" on drugs is working they tend to agree with legalization. I like to believe it helps. The U.S. is currently sitting at a 50% approval rate for marijuana legislation but tobacco and alcohol lobbyist don't want that to ever happen. We need to make it happen. Government for the people by the people; well for fuck sakes the people want to smoke pot, LEGALIZE IT. + Show Spoiler + That response breaks my heart, don't get me wrong I'm going to smoke anyway but the idea that we have so little power and can be brushed aside by nonsense answers hurts. That response wasn't a conversation or discussion it was a orators trick to ignore all the points presented by the petition ( other substances much more dangerous but they are legal?, freedom?, etc ) You know those types of things.

Dont worry, we will see it legalized by the time our parents are dying, theres a whole generation of people who cant see themselves existing in a world where its legalized. I tend to agree with Joe Rogan on this one, the problem with legalizing marijuana, is that the marijuana market would allow millions to leave poverty, hippies are gonna start making good money growing their weed crops, millions maybe billions of stoner dollars would start flooding the markets and giving taxes to goverment. Then what happens ? Suddenly all those stoners with money on their hands are vital to the local economy, and start influencing in politics and etc.. What the government fears, is not that marijuana is gonna start destroying kids or something, they fear it empowers a lot of citizens with ideology but litte means and little political will, that it drives social change, and starts ending with all those bullshit interest games that permeate the political discussion. Most of all, they want marijuana to never be legalized, so we dont check that box and move to the next.

Most of all, they want marijuana to never be legalized, so we dont check that box and move to the next. In a broader sense, I think you're right. The legalization of weed would see a sea-change in public opinion, values and discourse over the course of a decade or so. The powers that be don't want that. They want obedient workers. At the same time, on a smaller scale, the scale of the individual politician or party, I think I can understand the position they're taking. They've worked hard to get into power, they have things they want to make happen. Perhaps they're looking to push a fairer taxation system, ensure state assets aren't sold off, or are looking to see those who have the least in our society brought up with the rest of us. These are admirable goals. Meanwhile, the marijuana debate is still immensely polarizing and to take a principled stand on the matter is to potentially lose an election, with no guarantee of making any progress. I think a lot of politicians see it this way: Those of us that want to smoke weed are going to do so regardless of whether or not its legal. Meanwhile, there are bigger fish to fry. More important challenges facing us. Given the current level of discourse, its simply not worth it to take the stand these people probably know in their heart is the right one. THAT is where my true objection lies here. Its not that they rejected the position. They were always going to. Its that they spun the same tired old bullshit we hear again and again. We need to get to the point where when people hear that shit, they think "oh there's that stupid propaganda again". That's how we will effect real lasting change.

I have been sober since oct 24; shit SUCKS. From the 21 to 23 I was coked/methed out of my fucking mind until I realized that it's time to take a break from this shit. All of it. No alcohol, weed, cigs, stims, anything. Granted I do have a script for Valium, but I only take that as actually needed psychologically. But the sober me is way better at SC2; GM anyone? Should I spoiler that shit? This isn't exactly the "sober rage thread" ![]() EDIT: or can I just make up for it by telling you guys a story about how fucking crazy the stims got? Or maybe not, since I was going through bad shit IRL and trying to get away from it so it would still just be a downer to explain. Should I just delete this post?
