The process by which it was instantiated was also illegal. I won't touch an argument about "necessity", but it's not completely kooky to criticize the income tax. oh she's a feminist, nvm; total kook

Other forms of tax couldn't possibly support everything we need.

So I was wrong about the legality; it's legal. It just didn't use to be: "The Supreme Court's interpretation of the Sixteenth Amendment has changed considerably over time and there have been many disputes about the applicability of the amendment." from the wiki. I suppose I should stop watching fringe documentaries. BUT THEY'RE SOO INTERESTING ESPECIALLY WHEN IM HIGH Regarding necessity: I've heard income tax is not at all apportioned. That means none of it goes into social services, fixing roads, education, health, or anything like that (not saying it's unnecessary; most people just assume that 30% of their pay is going to these things, though).

Regarding neccesity, where did you hear that? If income tax doesn't have any specific apportion to it, wouldn't that mean the government could use it anywhere it deemed necessary? ( I could be horribly wrong here, but this seems logical =p) Like there was a measure that failed in the last vote here to have a %1 property tax bump, in which only that %1 would go towards preserving open space or soemthing. And I just fail to see how our nation could function without it, without insanely bumping up taxes across the board to compensate. So what, every state would have tolls that are like $4 to pass through every 15 miles? Double or triple the cigerette taxes? It just seems that all ti would be would be taking the money from a different pocket.

we pay extemelly high taxes (near sweden and other top life quality places) and our public hospitals look like warzones, public security sucks, the justice system is completely slow and incompetent, and theres at least 3 news per week of politicias stealing milions of dollars and nothing happens to them =( ps: and our public education is probably one of the biggest schemes ever, you cant FAIL (else they all would).
