God fucking damnit. On the verge of tears right here. One of the best and biggest names in metal has passed away. Taken from the Slayer facebook page:
Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.

I don't really like metal, but I really LOVE Slayer. I'm so bummed about this. I saw them at "Monsters of Rock" in 91 and to this day never seen any band whip a few thousand people into such aggressive brutality. They never slowed down, "Mellowed Out" and rode the grunge wave. Slayer is what I imagine Hell to sound like and Jeff will be sorely missed.
