I thought several threads containing screenshots/dumps from this dance would take over TL for the next hour or so. Edit: Good lesson eh. Awkward is fun! I suspect many in the TL community are tired of anything related to that song and dance

I'd like to know just how close each of these runs are to the world record, considering they banter and show off for so much of each run. They used to do this, atleast last year I think. The overlay is alot better this year though, and I'm guessing they don't have room for it? But agreed that they should include this, seems to be some more room to fill to me.

Some of the games use routes that are "marathon safe" and thus a little slower than the routes they'd normally use (which aren't safe because if they miss a trick it basically forces a reset). Quite a few games do use their normal route, though. In addition, for a lot of the games there's often three or less people actively running it at a reasonably high level. Many just have the one person. The "world record" in many cases is the person's personal best time simply because there's no competition.

I didn't get to see all of the runs so far or even the majority of the runs, but I imagine that Caleb's run is probably closest to being comparable to the world record. From the list of games I was expecting Caleb's Mega Man X, Cosmo's Wind Waker and Sig's SM64 runs to be closest to their world records. So, in general, it wouldn't really be worth really comparing.

I do agree though that having a quick and easy benchmark for how they're doing might be pretty cool (even though a lot of these are committed to memory, yay photos!).

Now let's see how my luck holds out on the grand prizes. Unless this year they are allowing people to win more than once.
