Hello aspiring writers of TL.

By suggestion of the TL writing topic, I decided to open a topic dedicated towards the writing of a short story, in the form of a contest.
Rather than it being a simple dumping ground for short stories, it will feature an actuall prize.
The winner of the (possible first) short story contest will be allowed to pick one game from Steam at 30 euros or less, and I will gift it to them.

The rules:
The short story must be between 2.000 and 10.000 words. No longer, no shorter.
The story must in some way adhere to the theme or keyword that is provided.
The winner will be decided by a panel of judges, not voting.
Each contestant may only submit one story and stories will only be valid if they are sent before the deadline.
All genres are allowed.

Rule clarification
The keyword/theme will be provided in each incarnation of this contest.
The deadline will be at the end of April. After April, the judges will read all the submissions and decide the winner.
The only judge on the panel at this point is me. Anyone that wishes to apply as a judge can sent a mail. You can only judge if you are willing to read all the stories.
Stories will not be punished for infrequent grammar mistakes, but stories that are so messy that they can't be read will be trashed.

Submissions are only valid until the end of April. Once the contest is over, the judges will begin to read the stories and select the winner.

This. Will you be judging on how you/the other judges enjoyed it, or will it be a more technical judging, or will it be a mix?

but for some reason, my yuri works are just not very well rated as my BL works. I really want to write yuri too, besides, there's not alot of people to write yuri about.

For example, can i start my story at night and then just go on about it,
Or should atleast a significant portion of the stoy take place at night?
Either way is fine by me since i already have a few ideas brewing.

The word count is too broad. And too long for the upper end. That's like, 15-20 Microsoft word pages if formatted properly. Something like 4000 at the top makes more sense.
And what are you doing with the stories submitted? Will you post the best? The best of each type? Will you post all of them? Will you categorize the stories when you post? (ie romance, fantasy, mystery, etc)

It's the theme, so it should be reasonably important in your story, if not the main point.

I'm always in for this sort of contests. To bad that means I can't apply as a judge I guess.
I would like it if all stories would be posted (preferably categorized) after the contest is over.
Also for a next contest perhaps a few extra mandatory keywords?
ps. 10k words is indeed a to long I think for this purpose. If you want to see stories up to 10k words it's perhaps better to make a separate category for stories 6-10k or something like that?

Interesting, Zalz has been temp banned for 90 days. Don't know whether submissions are still worth it. At least writing is fun either way.
