Your metabolism slows while you sleep and it helps you gain weight. As long as your not eating/drinking corrosive stuff (like diet coke or something) it's just a weight maintenance thing.
If your weight issue is a result of other digestive problems it could irritate those too.

I eat 2 eggs around 9 and go to bed at 10. Protein shake should also be fine. Just avoid eating too late and bigger meals late. I think your stomach has to rest to not be stressed and an upset stomach leads to more sickness.
I think the whole don't eat past 9 (I've heard 10 but whatever) actually is for midnight snacking, which is a really bad habit. If you're not eating very late you're going to be fine. Also being underweight is also unhealthy so yolo : P
Just like with everything, try to balance it out. Eat a smaller meal an hour or two before you go to bed to get the extra calories you usually don't get. At least that's what I do since I also had trouble gaining because I get a full stomach really fast during meals I have to eat more frequently.

i would legit have a full pasta meal when i was heavily calorie counting like an hour before i went to bed and i wake up fine but idk if it affected me in the long run
