I've read some interesting news the other day. It appears that after all, we will get something in form of Firefly season 2! Mark Zuckerberg supposedly mentioned: "if during a month we'll get 5 million letters, we'll make one of your dreams come true" on FB. A joke by Whedon ("Captain Reynolds wants you!"), encouraging people to sign up to use FB to get Firefly back up again got 120 thousand fans in 24 hours. In the end, the contest was won by one of Greenpeace actions, but the fuss around Firefly was so big that Zuckerberg watched the series. He liked it so much that he offered the Showtime TV station and Joss Whedon the making of new season. Finishing the first one to be precise, but make it as if Serenity movie never happened. Zuckerberg said he's going to finance it and Whedon agreed.
I hope that other people are just as excited as I am!
Oh well, we can secretly hope that someone who works high up in Facebook sees this, shows it to Mark for the lulz, causing him to be interested in Firefly and contacting Joss Whedon and making this actually come true...
For your information: The information I posted here comes from February/March. I am not certain myself if it's true or not (and won't be sure until the April issue of the S-F magazine I found it in arrives).
:D you really had me going! I was about to pull out my old "God hates Firefly" sign and start campaigning to have that show re-canceled. such a terrible show.

How about you go and watch it? Serenity was created to "close" the first season, but in order to do so Whedon had to take a lot of shortcuts and sacrifices (not enough time in a single movie you see), which reflected directly on the quality. Don't take me wrong, Serenity is a very good movie, but it pales in comparison to the TV series, where you get to see characters in more depth, learn their history (at least some of it), love them for all their flaws, be intrigued by the interactions between them etc.
BRB, going to rewatch it now, just so I can hate on Fox Broadcasting Company some more...
I refuse to believe that there exists another person evil enough to prey on Firefly fans except for the guy at Fox who originally canceled the show. This leaves us with two options: either Manit0u is said person or this is real.
By the way there is a special kind of hell reserved for people like that.

I got so excited.
Then when I doubted myself, I went back and read the post again and realized just how absurdly ridiculous this whole concept was.
That's the kind of suspension of disbelief Firefly instills.
Things not to joke about: Aids, 9/11, firefly, People in Wheel Chairs, arrested development. Not cool man. I bet you laugh at people in wheel chairs too.

Dude not funny. Although that would be awesome if it happened.
God, this is absolutely the most cruel 1 aprils joke ever.
After I realized it was a 1 april's joke, the only thing I could think of what "why the ****** would you ever make a joke like that, you really have to have some twisted sense of humor to do something like that".
But ye, the only one so far that actually managed to trick me, instead of people just making up stupid stuff, so well done.

This really isn't funny at all dude. Firefly was the greatest show ever, and now you're just preying on my love. Seriously go fucking die in a fire man, that shit wasn't ok.
I've never seen a single episode of firefly, but I ended up seeing the movie. It was okay, cept for the kung fu chick... shit me cringe everytime she got air time. In the future with super weapons and spaceships a 90 pound girl that likes to kick and punch people is a super weapon? Give me a break, cut that shit out of the script.
This post made me a sad panda I briefly thought that I had escaped the Sunday woes of a poor MLG. Also, the movie, in particular the role of the 90 pound girl, makes more sense if you'd seen the TV series. But, you're right, having not seen it, it's fairly ridiculous.
