How many of you opened this thread expecting a complaint?
There's been a few threads thanking the community, but think a lot has to be said specifically for the mods on Teamliquid who work tirelessly scouring the deepest corners of the forums, banishing the illiterate and condemning the bad-mannered to lives of silence.
I haven't been here for a fraction as long as many and I've already received a few warnings, but I'm trying to improve my posting. I've been around the internet, seen the good forums, seen the bad forums, and I just want to say that for the size of Teamliquid.net and the crowd it draws, the forums and site in general is just so outstanding, especially when you think about what it would be like with less active mods.
The mods exercise fantastic discretion, are consistent, fair, and most of all extremely active. A very small percentage of posts slip through the cracks, and it really just makes a huge difference to everybody's experience on the site, even if it sometimes feels like you're fighting a losing battle.
Thanks, Mods <3

yea, TL mods are the modi-est! gotta love 'em.

At first, I read "The mods exercise fantastic discretion, are consistent, fair, and most of all extremely attractive" and I really was excited for where this OP was going. Don't get me wrong, it's still all fine and good but I'm always rooting for Banling romance.

Oh, Manifesto7! You have such a big banhammer!
|
Yeah, TL.net wouldn't be half as good if it wasn't for the bans. It actually makes bm more fun in a strange way. If everyone was bming all the time and not getting banned for it it would get really boring, but, because of the 'high stakes', it's more funny watching someone lose it and start raging.

You sir would climb the corporate ladder very effectively.

Yeah it's definitely good to see some moderation, just one of the many things that makes this game's community one of the best. Keep it up

I really love this forum. The quality of the threads usually is excellent and the community is very helpful. I once got into an argument with twisted and I hold it in high regard that he didn't ban me or anything.
Love you TL
|
I agree, I've noticed a spree of banhammers and warnings issued. I'm glad aboot BM getting noticed here on TL, but I think I'm more glad that every ban or warning has been 100% legitimate unlike a lot of other forums.
Thank you mods And congrats TL you grow stronger each day

Things have cracked down a lot more since SC2 beta came out since there has been a LARGE influx of new members.
It's for the best I suppose.
|
Now I do work on the side as a moderator for a corporate-run forum, and it's quite hard to actually keep a 24/7 presence on the site, especially the larger it grows; so I really admire TL's staff team for getting enough motivated people to police the forum.
Also, do not forget YOU as the conscious and aware poster also play a role in reporting and messaging the presence of offensive material to the Banlings and everyone with a hammer to use in the drive to clean up the forums. Self-policing and active reporting go a LONG way towards easing the task of everyone with authority here.

Yeah where do you get time for this, are you getting paid, or is it only for the recognition of the community and ego boost?

Bunch of suck-ups imo.
Kidding, always appreciated to hear from satisfied customers.

Speaking as a former moderator (not on this site) I can say that threads like these are worth a lot. The usual feedback mods recieve only come from the poeple at the wrong end of the banhammer. And it tends to be less positive and more along the lines of... Idra losing a game.
|

How many people are registered on TL anyway? Can't find the info anywhere.
|
|
Yay, the mods rule! (except EvilTeletubby)
The TL-mods taught me online manners, since you can get warned pretty quick around here when insulting someone. I automatically think twice before insulting someone online, even when I am not on TL :o
|
Never hurts to have a thread to point to when the banhammer is looming over your head, good foresight OP!
I agree though, the mods here are amazing. I never hesitate to come here, I know the BS will be handled and that good ideas will have room to breathe. Thanks guys!

I feel sad and scared for the mods....they have to read SC2 Strategy.
GL mods.

I think they're doing a good job, but I always thought the "User was warned for this post" is way to aggressive, as it conveys a message that the user is a wild creature which needs aggressive red lettered taming.
I think something like this would get the job done, but without the horrible fear factor. "User was urged to improve the quality of posts."
|
if this blog is to appreciate the mods, count me in too..
though i was banned once (for some stupid reason), but i'm glad TL is quite free from all the bad stuff that i have encountered in other forums..
|
I really like what teamliquid has become. I can only assume it's because of the mods. Also thanks to everyone with quality posts. You guys know who you are. Bans and warnings alone does not make a good forum community.
|
OP is hiding something. JK, thanks for keeping these boards clean.
|
Yeah, seriously. So many terrible terrible posters joined TL with SC II that the forum could have gotten pretty horrible in no time. Luckily, the mods are doing an amazing job at cleaning them. I just wished every post raging about Terran being imba would result in a ban though, there are way too many of them.
Anyway, GJ mods, thank you for keeping TL awesome.
|
Let the sun shine upon those who wield the banhammer!
Ps: <3

Best feeling I get on TL: I open a thread, see a horrible OP that disappoints me because the title was so promising but there's no content, and as I write up my report it fails to submit because the mods already closed the thread.

Fixed
I like the red text, it sometimes adds some comical touch to bad posts. Like someone quoting another post and saying: "Hey, shut up faggot" then having the red shiny letters saying User was banned for this post under it makes me smile.

Oh what big banhammers you have!!!

Yeah, I must say, of all the sites I've been on, the mods on teamliquid have to be some of the best around. Tough but fair. Not to mention funny. Thanks!
|
Much <3 to the mods, you make the site great which has kept me coming back since 2005.
|
The second most amazing moderation I've ever seen on private community. Another thing I like the best is the humorous ways the bans are delivered- even though some trolls may spite us, at least we'll get laugh out of it at the end.
|
i love Manifesto7 he can give me Warnings but no other mods are allowed to give me warnings because they don't say -Thanks in advance for your cooperation, Manifesto7 ^Only he does! and it makes me happy :D The other mods that gave me warnings haven't told me who they are ! this is madness

Well done indeed, mods. You make TL a pleasure to be a part of.

Thank you mods, not only do you ban/warn people, but you make funny comments on the reasons for banning. :DDD How cool is that; only on TL!

I love mods. My favorite mod is Median XL.
just kidding mods i love all of you

Seriously, even glancing at the sc2 forum gives me a headache from the post quality (or lack of) - i cannot imagine how much tireless, unending effort they put forth to make teamliquid as great as it is. You guys are truly E-heroes.
|
I actually think that mod-bot that occasionally tells me I'm a dick is more annoying than the mods(they're cool). Not having anyone in particular to complain to just makes me feel like I might as well give up.
|
Thanks to all the hero mods here ! Cannot be an easy job your doing, but we all appreciate it ! Thank you

Lies! Only Nyovne is a nice mod!!! stop spreading your propoganda of hatred and tyranny!!!

Mods at TL.net always been top notch. I guess they have what they deserved now ;
Popularity Money Bitches ManPower and a ton of nerds/lurkers who religiously read every post from ppl who have a special icon !
Thanks TL

I definitely thought this was gonna be HeavenOnEarth thanking Inc for finally changing his ban reason.
Thanks mods for taking the shit and giving the wit. Cheers

I wouldn't go that far lol. I've had perfectly legit threads closed because mods were quick to make judgments. (Namely one discussing the lack of zerg early game agression was instantly closed, even though it contained constructive, well thought out content and was posted when I was ranked in the top 150 in beta). That being said TL.net is better than almost any other large public forum I've used by a significant margin, and the situation I discussed previously was understandable considering that it was before the whole banling delegation and the forums were constantly being filled with shitty balance complaint threads.
|
This is a good post. I never joined a community like this before because the post quality was always awful. The mods here do an excellent job and their work is evident all over the site every hour of every day.
|
Its amazing how many bans/warnings/closed threads mods have to deal with, and how they keep TL clean even with all that to worry about.
In the past TL has had 'purges,' is there any thought for something like that in the future? (if thats something that the mods don't want to talk about, completely understandable)

I'm only here because Mani posted a guide to watching afreeca on gosugamers. If it wasn't for the ceaseless effort of mods to provide resources for the community I'd have never known of the world that existed outside by small group on the Europe server.

I've never seen red text that I didn't agree with and after visiting the bnet forums I really feel grateful for TL.

The mods have gotten soft... I remember mani gave me a warning because I used a TL;DR to sum up my post.

why is your nose so brown? :D ahh don't ban me bro.
But i guess the bans have grounded me, although i love being able to say whatever i want
