Well, i had an absolutely fantastic time at Animazement last weekend, and I finally got some pictures developed and posted. For everyone who doesn't know, Animazement is an Anime Convention held in Durham, North Carolina. Ultimately, it's nothing but an excuse for people to get together and act silly/watch anime/play video games while dressing up in fun costumes.
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v249/Nickachu/?sort=descending
Check them out at that link. I am the Cat Boy, Prentice is Ryo-Ohki / Sailor Moon, Joie is Human-Luna / Sailor Venus, and Hannah is Songstress Yuna / Sailor Mercury. There are others in some pics, but they are mostly random people we met at the con, or people we knew but who weren't in our little group.
Enjoy !!!

Honestly, if any of those girls were good looking, i wouldn't mind. But as an unwritten rule, all anime freaks are 1) gay 2) ugly.

i think every response in this thread was an attempt to make fun or belittle him, which is usually how it goes around here,so shut the fuck up.

I've seen some pretty good naruto cosplay, esp kakashi and ROCK LEE!! Anyway, cosplay is...interesting and always draws a lot of attention. Those online photo galleries give good exposure to some different cultural ideas of fun... =]

That's just wrong and ignorant. I'm not an anime fan by any means, but that's just extremely close-minded and just flat out wrong by pure experience.
Anyway, as for the girls in the pictures, they obviously weren't supermodels, but they're definitely no worse than many girls out there, so if you think they're ugly that's fine, that's your opinion, but again, you're very close-minded and shallow if such is the case.

Stop being so negative people. Geezus. Or at least come up with a smart comment like User_2.
|
The one in the Sailor Moon / Ryo-ohki (the bunny one) outfit is my girlfriend, the other two Sailor Scouts are good friends of mine.
Honestly, to whoever finds any us to be "1.)gay 2.)ugly" , please prove to me that you are a more attractive person and a bigger winner in the game of life. Otherwise, I just have to assume you are being obnoxious, or are simply jealous of the fact that we had a good time, and looked good while doing it.
|
|
Anyways, yes we had a wonderful time. The girls looked fantastic, and won 1st place in the Advanced Cosplay catagory for the song/dance they did in their Sailor Senchi outfits. While I didn't take part in the cosplay competition myself, I did enjoy walking around and acting as a lightning rod for anime fan-girls. Everywhere I went, I was swarmed by young girls wanting to pet me, ring my bell, hug me, and take me home.

Well then lets put it this way: all people who play computer games are nerds. Think that's true? It's the same logic. And we've ALL been proven wrong.
But yes I've seen many many hot girls that are hot and into anime. I'm not a photographer however if I happen to run into such a picture I'll be glad to pm it to you asap.
The point isn't that I should prove you wrong. You're making the claim, saying there's a direct correlation between two characteristics in a person. Such a thing has to be proven true to be considered a fact. Such cannot be proven in this instance for several reasons of which I truly hope you're intelligent enough to grasp the concepts of.

"All" is a common day expression denoting "most" or "majority". If common sense doesn't let you see this, than that's not my problem. Knowing that, whatever you're second paragraph was about, has now become useless. Way to go!

People stop flaming. You are all so immature.
 You too Trance.

According to that one law that I can't remember the name of, things can only be proven false, not true. Therefore, we can't prove that the statement that "All anime fans are gay or ugly", we can only prove it false, which somebody somewhere probably can. Speaking in absolutes is never the correct way to express anything. Anyway, who cares if they went to an anime-fest or whatever and dressed up in costumes? I bet people make fun of all the "nerds and losers" that show up for the WCG, but it doesn't make it right.

Cosplay translates into something like Costume Play. Why it's Play is beyond me.
|
Oh please, this is the most hilarious thing I've ever seen other than the crazy w3 fan who dressed in his mom's pantyhose to look like an elf or something.
|
I'll be back btw.... in some way or another.
EDIT: I just love these little fucked up kids who think it's in any way a profitable proposition to attempt "coming back."
Hey, tom liu, feel free to waste time + energy "coming back" you moron. There's a whole team of us waiting your return with ban buttons. It takes us literally 5 seconds to ban you each and every time you "come back" - so go ahead, make our day. You wouldn't be the first to attempt such a ridiculously time-wasting venture, and I doubt you're gonna be the last. The result will always be the same tho. Have fun "coming back." - mensrea
EDIT2: <3 mensrea - Klogon

I think Cosplay = Costume Play is correct. I'm also fairly sure that the origin of the term has to do with the fact that many people who dress up not only attempt to look like the character, but "roleplay" the character. I suppose if you're going to look silly in the first place, you might as well try and make it entertaining.
|
I really wish that this world wasn't populated by fucking idiots (ie:tom liu).
I'm not into cosplay though it looks as if it could be fun...I love messing around and just being silly in general
I WANT TO SEE GOOD KAKASHI COSPLAY! SHOW ME!

If you're into looking like a complete fool, cosplay is where it's at!
|
User_2 , you seem to be acting more the much a fool by unequivocally denouncing cosplay in general. Really though, if you are such a cool guy, far too cool to find entertainment in such things as this of course, please let me know what it is that makes you so special? I really think you're just being an ass for the sake of it.

Dressing up is not my idea of fun. If you enjoy it, go for it, just be aware that there is a mass of people like me ready to march in and completely belittle every single person like yourself. There is nothing special about me in regards to this discussion, i just find dressing up in costumes and dresses, for the sole purpose of representing a fictional character, to be complete nonsense.

" "All" is a common day expression denoting "most" or "majority". "
What the fuck? Since when has this been true? "All" is an absolute. Your "common days" must be fucked up.
" If common sense doesn't let you see this "
Common sense tells me to look in the dictionary. And lets see... www.dictionary.com doesn't mention anything about "all" denoting "most" or "majority."
" If you're into looking like a complete fool "
Point of view. From my point of view your close-mindedness makes you look like a complete fool.

It's all good as long you have some fun and just chill with the people you like, like she is doing:

No shit it's a point of view, also known as an opinion, something that forums generally have. Jesus christ, i'm not asking you to see it my way, i'm just saying what i want. If you're gonna cry about it, go cry to your mom.
|

Calling "all" of them fags and ugly isn't an opinion. (The ugly part is.)
Only state opinions if you are going to screw up your facts!

It's more of an academical+philosophical argument than a practical one. But then again, internet forums are usually full of people who like to "masturbate" their intellect or show off how long their intellectual "dick" is.

Just drop it User_2, you're just being a dickhead.
It looks like you guys had fun, which is all that counts. I recently talked to an old old friend of mine that I hadn't talked to in about 6 years. He has changed a lot and has gotten into Live Action Role Playing. They'd dress up, not necessarily as anime characters, but rather as some character they created, and would actually act out a game which I think was similar to Dungeons&Dragons, but with slightly different rules/guidelines. Not my thing, but definitely interesting to see / read about. Some of the costumes got really elaborate. The coolest thing about it was they got to beat each other with foam covered pvc pipe :D
|
I've gone to 2 smaller anime-cons (I'm just a casual fan). They where fun, with lovely artwork, costumes and info sessions. Even saw a number of families with cute kids all cosplayed up. Lots of normal people, having a fun fantasy weekend.
And this forum of computer gamers should be the last group making fun of anime-cons. Many more females participate in anime-cons than computer gaming events. A big +++ for anime-cons.
|
Honestly, I don't live too far from Durham.
If I'd known, I'd have come.
Just to hurt you.
|
|
In fact, as someone mentioned earlier, the number of females in attendance far far outweighs the number of males at these things. If you give yourself a relatively conservative estimate that at least 25% of them will be cuties, then you should have plenty of fun flirting while you're there....something that is obviously lacking from Starcraft LAN events, as much fun as they are regardless
|
i want to flame so bad but cant , anyways , im sure u dont come to starcraft lan events to pick up girls..

Hi Perli, How's it going? Do you still frequent BSB? I don't recall seeing you around lately.
Anyways, why would you lose all self-respect if you costumed? It's really no different than dressing up for Halloween. Heck, some people might even give you candy or something too if you look good, who knows!
