Straight up fuck the law. If everyone was a chill, good person we wouldnt need any laws. But since there are so many horrible people we kinda need them.. Uh...no. Even if everyone were perfect we'd still find laws useful. Also...Silvio...nooooooooo... http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/dec/02/silvio-berlusconi-health-party-wikileaks?CMP=twt_gu

And are being pressured to arrest him. But they are avoiding doing that so far. How much of that is true? All of it? The UK knows where he is and because of extradition treaties there's pressure for them to honor Sweden's warrant. The warrant was improperly done though and given the likely scrutiny on extradition they decided to wait for it to be properly filled out.

What's so surprising about that? He's not saying anything the Homeland Security Committee hasn't already said. A group of former members of WikiLeaks is planning to launch its own whistleblowing platform in mid-December, according to a German newspaper. The activists criticize WikiLeaks for concentrating too much on the US and want to take a broader approach http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/0,1518,732212,00.html Which was what many had predicted when wikileaks first showed up. That it would be just the first of it's kind. Many other wikileaks like website are gonna show up sooner or later.

There will come a time where admitting that there's widespread corruption in the government is a partisan political issue. That realizing that the actual reasons for why we're well and truly fucked is up for debate and not acted upon. Goddamnit we live in a pre-Orwellian society. And most people aren't even willing to admit that.

Some really good details about the burn on Asange in the above link. I doubt that the allegations of rape are true.

This was in private confidence. Note that Kennedy was assassinated. The President is only the public head of the bureaucracy of state. While he holds a considerable amount of power in the grand scheme of things, we can't hold him entirely accountable behind every single action the U.S. government commits. (Not that he is not responsible for those actions nonetheless, but responsibility and culpability are different things).

Revealing crimes (of war) is a great thing, but a parallel to leaking diplomatic letters would be if everyones medical journals were made public... Stop praising this man, he has done the world a great deal of harm and he should NOT be rewarded for it. The only award he's been given so far is bogus rape charges. More places like wikileaks are starting to pop up on the web. It's too soon to hope for it but we my be seeing an end to governmental invulnerability and double-dealing (this would be a very good thing). So I'll continue to praise the website. the actions of it's members are nothing short of heroic. This is our generation's Pentagon Papers. If you think leaking diplomatic cables is just bad, are you OK with the following? - US bombing Iran at the request of Saudi Arabia - Taking Gitmo prisoners into your country in order to get an audiance with the US president. - Russian government being in bed with organized crime. - China taking both sides in the NK issue.
