In the library "math" which is included, there is already a "pi" variable you can pull out when you want, and if you need the double of it, you do "pi x 2". Secondly, a "double" is not "the double of", its in fact just a constant stating how big you want the variable to be (and if you want to have decimal numbers, you need to use "double" as well). The one who made that line of code was either being humerous, or bad at programming. In your defense, there is no way of knowing this unless you've tried your hands at programing yourself. ![]()

Probably for optimization since you almost always use pi * 2 instead of just pi in equations. His comment also states it's defined from the radius and not the diameter of a circle. Which is a lot more convenient since what's important about circles are their radius, and thats whats used in physics. circumference / radius = 6.28 circumference / diameter = 3.14 But I guess he could have called it TAU instead of PI to avoid confusion. More info on tau: No, really, pi is wrong: The Tau Manifesto by Michael Hartl (51:22) Pi Is (still) Wrong. by Vihart (5:17) Tau replaces Pi - Numberphile (9:42) Pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() + Show Spoiler [Explanation requested] + sqrt(-1) = i 2^3 = 8, sounds like "ate" third symbol is sum sign, sounds like "some" last symbol is pi, sounds like "pie" "I ate some pie... and it was good" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
