I just didn't understand why someone thought posting a mis-used historical phrase in a swedish vote without any translation from swedish to english and zero context whatsoever would be considered funny.

While now it's not funny for people who aren't able to understand it, it's more funny for the people who are (I, personally, hate it when jokes are explained unnecessarily, takes the fun out of them) The part of getting it is as large a part of humor as the joke itself IMO. (That's why inside jokes are so funny, even the 30th time)

If you just don't find it to be funny (because it's a sensitive subject to you or whatever), that's possible, but personally, I thought it was funny.

There was a lot of fuss and bans about this picture on page 243. I don't think people noticed that the text was not actually the Bible. It was the product of the LOLcat Bible initiative.
