I had a whole year with nothing to do. In this year I regulary went to bed after 2, sometimes after 3 and got up at maybe 10 or 11. Mostly I watched TV or read a book at night, I'm not a night gamer. But now with university and stuff I'm always in bed before midnight. Not because I have to get up early in the morning, it just helps me to get my stuff done and my best work time seems to be right after I got up, still sleeping. All the papers I wrote early in the morning got good grades. So it works for me. Also I got to bed early, because I'm really tired, starting at maybe 22:00, I know, if I could push myself to be up til maybe 1, I could go another 3 hours without beeing terrible sleepy. But I learned to listen to my body and go to bed, when I'm tired.

During training camps I go to bed around 9-10pm, during off sessions more towards 3am, gives me enough time to get home from the clubs, grab a snack and a quicky

Stayed up till 4 am last night. Im a complete trash at office today. T_T

Well sometimes I stay up to 5. sometimes I go to sleep at 11 and wake up at 2 and cant sleep till like 7am.. infact most times i go to sleep early enough but never sleep the full night

I have had a lot of problems with this kind of stuff because I tend to say I'll just do one more thing and then end up staying up all night. I've always been a light and late sleeper but having a computer made me start staying up too late...like right now.... Anyway, what I've found is that the best way to change from sleeping late morning through early evening is to stay up a day. Just stay up a day and you'll be tired enough to sleep the next night at a resonable hour (Sleep before 12). Not that hard to do either as you are already up fairly early into the day anyway so staying up the extra part is only 12 hours or so. After the first day go to bed early (Before 2am). I've found that it makes you super super tired the day after you first sleep a more normal time frame. (I also only sleep 6 hours on a good night so I dunno if this is specific to me as I end up waking up so early the next day). I hear that not eating for a period of time (Like the day) and then eating a large late supper and going to bed will soft reset your internal sleep schedule. Never tried it and it doesn't solve the issue that you will most likely not be tired anyway. As far as health not sleeping at night can have long term health effects because of your circadian rhythm which your chemical responses dealing with sleep follow. The one thing you need to be careful with though is that you just follow some kind of rythm. Not sleeping in the same time frames continually and espically changeing constantly is very bad for you. A study I read a while back had participants go to sleep 2 hours earlyer each day and then 2 hours later each day, sleeping normal inbetween for most accurate results. They found pretty drastic degradation of health for the time the experiment was held, blood pressure was the most specificly effected that I remember. (Wish I could find it but I have no idea where to even start looking). Makes sense to me as I find if I have a final or a paper or something and I sleep random times even for only two days I feel like crap.

I love going up 6am and I'm trying to change it to 5am. I get a lot of training done, prepare for school, plan out my day. Weekends are the exception though. I go to sleep around 10/11pm normally.
|
I don't have to be in for work until 2pm, so I usually stay up until insanely late. More and more, I have been trying to switch to a normal person's schedule so I can get up and run errands in the morning, etc. I just relapse so easily to sleeping at 5 or 6am though.

Starcraft is notoriously a late night activity. This may not be a place to try and gauge "normal".
So much so, I've even found on the whole- that my games durring the day are easier, and past midnight for the US starts to have the really good players on. I'm not saying that staying up late will make you a better Starcraft player- but the ones who REALLY take it seriously do end up in some serious late night sessions.
Normal is probably before midnight, and you'll find that pretty irregular around here, I would think. The best way, I've found, to go to bed early is to turn of the computer and read. Preferably in a fairly low, incandescent light. Also, don't sleep in too late! The temptation to keep rolling back over and sleeping more is also not helping. 7-8 hours you should be up and out. If your a Teen- I'd say 8-9. I have a degree in Psychology and seen MANY studies that teenagers need more sleep than adults.
GL
edit: Also try to get Exercise right in the "middle" of your day. Say you sleep for 8 hours, 8 hours before waking up and 8 hours before going to sleep- if you get good exercise or even go for a brisk walk, this will help you set your sleep schedule better. If you wanna go to bed 12, get 30min of cardio around 2. This will coincide with your natrual Temperature Maximum and make it easier for you body to fall into this cycle.

I cannot vote, as I go to bed after 5 almost regularly, LOL. Add an after 5 option! :D

i figured out i feel the same when i wake up if i had 4 hours of sleep or 8 hours. So yea, wake up at 7... means i can stay up till 4!
how i hold a stable career i do not know

noisy housemates cause me change my sleeping patterns. zzzzz. so i sleep at 2 now =DDD
|
hahaha,
I"m staying up for no reason right now.

I'm in the same boat as you. I tend stay up to late and drink caffeine. Then i get mad at myself falling asleep at noon and wasting the whole day. I'll always try to just and stay up all day but just end up falling asleep later and later. I can get back on a regular schedule if i really try but I'll quickly go back to my old ways. That is why I'm browsing teamliquid at 3 a.m =]

I simply can't stay up all night like that, as soon as I see the sun coming my mind goes "oh shit time for sleep," and if I don't sleep I just feel absolutely terrible until I do. Thus, I enjoy shorter days much more for lans and such =P

v3chr0, you fit into the Chuck Norris, I don't sleep vote

4:16 here, figure I'll get some sleep in 2-3 hours which has become pretty normal for me. It owns (sometimes).

Well everybody does, that's one reason this method is so so bad. You feel like complete shit for a whole day. Plus when you explain why you're staggering around like a zombie you look like a tool because people realize you literally cannot figure out how to sleep properly. It's like wearing a bib because you can't get this eating thing down.

Lucky you. Last year I went to bed never before 3 and most times past 4. Now I'm slowly working towards a normal sleeping schedule, and out of 5 weekdays I go to bed around 1 on 3-4 of them.
