Update: Contest is closed, no more entries allowed. Results will be up soon!
It's been four long years since TeamLiquid last brought you a Pumpkin Carving contest. Go on, click the link. We'll be sitting here waiting for you to get back. Finished? Aren't those some fine carvings? Anyway. Since then TeamLiquid has brought you many other contests and events like the TSL and the Cake Making Contest - both of which produced some amazing results.
With TL's art skills at an all time high, the staff felt it was appropriate to dig up the Pumpkin Carving contest for another year - with hopes that it become an annual event on the TL calender. So how is this going to go down?

Instructions
Carve your Pumpkin!
Take a picture of it. Just to ensure authenticity, write your TL.net username on a piece of paper and include it in the shot. (And if you think it's somehow distracting from the magnificence of your work of art, take a couple pics - one with, and one without the paper.)
Upload your image somewhere. I'd suggest using something quick & easy like ImageShack or TinyPic.
Post your pic in this thread by 00:00 KST on November the 4th
Few other notes:
TL staff will decide who wins during the following week.
More than one submission per person is allowed.
We need to be able to authenticate your carving! So a "making of" picture and/or a picture with a TL sign would be great
You can work on this with you girlfriend/wife if you like (pics are appreciated)
Subject matter? Anything goes, but be warned that we'll be heavily biased towards Starcraft, Progaming, or Teamliquid themed entries.
So what are you competing for? The winner of the pumpkin contest will be immortalized in the articles section of TL and will receive the Pumpkin Carving Trophy for 2009 which will sit nicely next to your ID for eternity
. Plus you get some street cred on TL - which is always a bonus if you plan on sticking around.

Anyways, enjoy your pumpkin soup, my anglo-saxon friends!
seeing 'american', 'cultural', and 'advantage' in one sentence makes me proud. how about that, huh? probably the first time i've seen that!

Carve a watermelon!
I believe it's even harder to get a watermelon than pumpkin in winter. Besides, in Poland halloween is a rather sad event (visiting the graves of your family etc. etc.) and not of the 'scary party/cosplay' type.
wow fantastic job on those ones already posted. that hydra is fuckin awesome. do you guys make a stencil and then carve or just freehand it out on the pumpkin?
I'm so excited to see what people come up with. Pumpkins here aren't very carvable (Most I've seen look very fat, but also very short so there's not a good surface for carving.) sadly.
lovin the idea of this contest. artistic use of pumpkins is very rare in austria. i hope some of my friends want to join so i don't have to make it all on myself (and thereby eat a lot of pumpkin)
no offense, but i really hope you guys are aware that blizzard has one of these like, every year. and the top winners are usually extremely high quality. seems kinda dumb if all its gona be is the same people submitting their entries to two contests now
You assume that blizzard and TL have the same fan base(this is only a SC site)? Don't worry, most likely the winners of the Blizzard contest won't be on TL as well.

LIKE SERIOUSLY? HOLY FUCK GODDAMN THAT'S... WTJASFG?JFPOJIZF?
Goddamn if I were a kid I'd be all like, "I want to carve pumpkins when I grow up!" That's inspirational. Screw being a kid I still want to become a master pumpkin carver. Jesus fucking balls she's awesome.
Yeah, that totally rapes the cock out of anyone else who posts pumpkins, lol. I feel sorry for the next person who spent all day on a pumpkin and didn't look at this thread yet = [
Well the contest is pretty much over now. I have no idea how somebody can carve a pumpkin more detailed and amazing like that. Carve all the way around the pumpkin maybe? Like a huge sc battle scene? Lol seems like the only option cuz that one is just ridiculous.

Oh wow well, I'm not even going to submit my pumpkin as it's a total failure in comparison to the other ones in this thread, time to slink off into my corner.

It was supposed to be a marine but looks more like a circle.

Dunno if this was like an official entry from the Blizzard contest, but it's also really well done! Extremely well done highlighting and details on the Zealots face and the rest of his upper-body.
However, the details and obvious splendid effort that Lagmaster and his GF put into their creation is truly something of praise and merit. Good job you two. I think you really put a stamp on the heading; "Art of pumpkin carving" I think you deserve the gg.

Poll: End Contest Early? (Oct 31. 00:00 KST) (Vote): Yes (Vote): No
I'm curious as to why people would vote yes if they haven't submitted anything? It would ultimately be better as an observer to have the contest run forever right?
My semi-faithful rendition of the Starcraft 2 logo I wunder what the kids will think as they come up for candy? If you look closely enough you can see the drop of blood from where I cut myself in the production process.
Awesome pumpkins everyone!! Ok my boyfriend and I worked on this together. the inspiration came from a recent game, see if you can guess which one (the answer is in the documentation link)

Why do you always have to write what I want to write before I write it? Then I have to quote you and add some stupid gibberish just to follow my own rules about not just quoting others...
