ToD and Rotterdam casting while they play would be a novel concept. It would take away from the competitive scene but it may add entertainment to the mix. It's funny when, at times, the two commentators actually shine greater than the event at hand.

I really like ToD and Roterdams casting. They make a great pair. I might even venture to say a better pair than SDM and tasteless :O

I agree. When Tastless and SDM first started at WCG 2008 together it was fresh and original. Now when I watch it seems like they say the same analysis, tell the same stories(SDM disconnecting against the guy who happened to be sitting across from him, Tasteless having to play his brother in WCG final, etc. Hear all these 4+ times) and their jokes seem old and played out. ToD and Rotterdam have new things to say every cast.

I played FoV once a long time ago right before when he won an ESL(I think) against Madfrog. All I can say is I will never -ever- underestimate pro gamers again. I felt ravaged by the end of the game.

Moon is called the 5th race btw because he does (or use to do) craaZy strategies and Grubby could never figure out what Moon would do in the next game.

I dont know who I want to win 3rd.

EDIT: Also I hate BM so much. BM and exp tomes are mostly the reason why I stopped playing wc3.

This is what i was thinking (almost word for word actually!) I have never really understood Warcraft 3 as much as Starcraft (build orders and game play) so I never really took an interest in it. However, Moon seems to have respect from most of the Starcraft guys so I doubt that it is a "skilless" game.
It's great that there are english commentators for this, if there weren't I doubt I'd be watching.

Well basically War3 boils down to timings based on your base's tiers of upgrades and the upkeep mechanic, for a SC reference think TvP when Ts push out when Ps try for a 3rd base and the P gets caught. Its like that except many things affect when the T pushes out, when the P tries for a 3rd base, when the P gets caught (if at all). Its kind of like that. The game is a little mechanical right now kind of how SC MUs were and there won't be much room for innovation until more new maps get implemented to force players to change up and think of new strategies.

Oh in team fights, pay especially attention to heroes and positioning, for example Grubby's 2nd game against Infi, Grubby won because he decided to focus fire the MK instead of trying to pick units off, Infi stuck his MK out a little too far and got caught.

Goshawk, we also had ToD during IeSF and he was hilarious there, too. The thing is, SDM seems to stifle Tasteless' humour in his casting whereas RotterdaM compliments it when co-casting.

WC3 has a much lower skill ceiling compared to SC. The hero/gold mine design means that lower levels players can have nearly perfectly macro (unit building wise). High level games all come down to unit micro in fights and decision making as where to creep. Heroes also kinda counter everything, so there's less variance in strategies, and heroes make the game a lot harder to balance.

It's definitely not a 'skilless' game, it just all comes to individual unit control a lot of the time. Blocking, surrounds, saving every unit.

hmm I wonder is there any place where i could get a goodlysis on the races and matchups of WC3? I searched it up on google and I found a topic from TL that had a very nice analysis, but it was from 2005 lol..

mymym.com has some old articles there detailing how to play certian matchups - they were very basic but a good place to start. It was basically just titled something like "How to play ORC v ORC" or something so you can throw that into a search.
