did they really? it only makes sense if they're somehow able to import all the scripts, triggers, etc..i don't see them trying to re-write most of the code

Iunno, they said that the mapmaker is ridiculously powerful and pretty easy to use. Plus they've always been pushing for DotA on SC2. I got to the stream too late to hear it myself, but people on the DotA forums said that the Blizzard panel confirmed that they will do it. There was a live Q&A on mapmodding 2 hours ago, and it was about the time the news came out so I believe it.

Hopefully there's going to be some form of moderation, and not every Joe-DotA can get his hands on it. Though one could argue that a mass of new ideas could be good for DotA. Icefrog said awhile back that he was excited about the news about the SC2 mapmaker, and that he was a fan of SC. Hopefully he can use the more powerful SC2 mapmaker to make a more kickass version of DotA.

And you think Icefrog got his position how? His version of DotA was better than everyone elses after the original developers stopped. It'll be fine.

More likely its going to be like what paper said, except you got HoN and LoL in the mix, and people will probably end up what their friends are playing.

so guys - Anti-Mage? Is it worth learning how to play him? Is he a very lineup dependent hero? (will he suck vs a Str-Agi lineup with few Ints). He seems so fucking fragile, but not as fragile as Clinkz (I really hate that hero).
