if we kill nithilak or whatever the fuck the persons name is we can use the portals for those areas. and from what i read, we'd be fucked when we reached the end boss, which totals to around 11 levels from the start(frozen citadel) :[ | ||

I've been playing for a while. I know the items and the heroes mostly, and I feel like I get an idea of what I'm supposed to do with which hero Then in actual engagements i just get raped. My timing is a little off, and I take one extra step forward. The most frustrating part is I don't have any idea what I'm doing wrong. Is there any help for me as a DotA player? Can somebody teach me to play this wretched game? | ||

Step 1 - Wraith [460] - Tango [90] Step 2 - Wraith [460] - Power Treads (Boots first) [1850] Step 3 - Lothars Edge [3400] - Manta Style [4850] - Butterfly [7800] So I've got this BO down pretty well and it works pretty much every game, but sometimes I don't know what to get after I get Butterfly so if you guys could let me know what's next (I'm thinking maybe Buriza?) that would be awesome. | ||

Don't kid yourself and go for high tier items like that when you're obviously not super good yet. Start with 2 circlets / 2 tangos / a branch. Make wraiths/boots / str treads or HOTD (doesn't matter which order). The HOTD will allow you to farm the jungle when the lanes are pushed (because you probably won't be doing much ganking as drow. You can, but it's not your most effective role). Next up you can get a BKB. Thus you'd have 2 wraiths / treads / hotd / bkb: This will give you extra hp / dmg / help you survive in team fights (and help you survive generally to avoid a gank by many heros if you turn it on and teleport). Remember: A butterfly costs $6000: BKB + Hotd cost 5760. You will be able to farm better / survive much more with this. Afterwards, you may now start building whatever the hell you want. | ||

It's not really a generality here, its a problem a lot of players have at all levels of skill (yes even with those pro-teams you see really fucked up team fights that makes you just facepalm yourself). Well, the best general advice is to determine the when part of a team fight you need to be there and doing shit. For example, Sand King's ultimate can both be an initiate (meaning the first ultimate your team tries to get off) or a follow up (something you need to be ready to do once the initiating finishes). You need to as a player, part of a team, to figure out when you need to initiate or when to follow up. Keep in mind this distinction isn't clear cut on heroes (such as Sand King). | ||
