I mean, to be fair, ATVI bureaucracy does make the game making process laborious drudgery.
How excited do you think developers are to make Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 57?
I worked at Activision for ten years so I can tell you: not very.
Pardo later proclaimed "making games should be as fun as playing games".
Well, this is mostly wrong. Making games, the actual part of coding, tweaking and adding art and sound assets, testing, etc, is dull and not fun at all.
The fun part is at the beginning, when you're brainstorming new ideas for fun games, and messing around with prototypes. But sadly that's about 1% of the overall process.
Well, I don't think Pardo is having very much fun because he left Blizzard 12 years ago and he has not made a game.
But he's close! They are still doing private testing, but maybe open beta testing is around the corner? Maybe? Assuming the money is about to run out, it had better be.
Unfortunately for Rob, the game looks really generic and the gameplay loop seems kinda meh. I think they are delaying the game as long as possible because they know the launch will be a disaster.
But I suppose we'll see.
