The headline figures of United's transfer window are £17m, £17m, £17m and £20m. Those are amounts United have agreed to pay for Anderson, Nani, Owen Hargreaves, and, perhaps, Carlos Tevez.
This is not the whole story. The Glazers' expenditure may be below the £25m they originally promised Sir Alex Ferguson.
How? Tevez, 23, will arrive on a two-year loan deal, and although that might cost a yearly fee of £4m to £8m, buying him outright can be deferred to a future year's accounts, if they exercise their option.
Brazil's Anderson, 19, and Portugal's Nani, 20, are being bought effectively on HP. United are understood to have paid £7m and £8m up front, and will pay the rest over the terms of the deals.
And while Hargreaves, 26, has cost a chunk up front, he became a United player only on 1 July, and the outlay falls into next year's accounts.
So instead of £70m, United have spent only £20m already.
Three of the players have a decade of playing ahead, and Hargreaves should have his peak years in Manchester. United are investing in the future, which is when the payments will be spread.

I will be happy if they sign Cesc, RM needs an offensive builder a lot. Also I hope Drenthe or Tevez come, better the argentinian but it seems ManU has his hands on him already.

it is crazy that RM is buying so many players, especially defenders where they have got plenty. Why not buy a left back? and where is the youth academy?
I am not sure if Cesc is available, considering that I think Wenger will sign a new contract. I actually like RM plays a kind of 4222, and using a DM and a kind of normal midfield to spray the ball around which I think Gago+Guti can cover this.

- Pepe: 30 millions sign. Rumours say the deal is more than that. It seems RM wants Quaresma too, so the deal is 16 for Pepe, and 14 + Baptista for Quaresma. Why? Because Barça has a 25% over Quaresma, and that's why Oporto was asking so much money for him. Making it 30 for Pepe and Baptista for Quaresma, Barça gets nothing and the deal is done. The only thing to do is the agreement of Baptista and Quaresma for each side. As said, it's just a rumour.
- Saviola arrives on friday. Confirmed by both sides, RM and Barça.
- Drenthe: Feeyenord and RM have an agreement, they are waiting Drenthe's OK
- Cesc: This is my dreamed signing. But what he wants is to stay with Wegner. Spanish press (-_-) say that Cesc has asked Arsenal to listen to the offer from RM, so there's a little chance, but I won't bet on it =(
- Barça
- Milito is 17 + 3,5 on matches played, team success and so, being Barça, probably they'll have to pay the 20,5. With Milito and Puyol I can't imagine a forward dribbling between them T_T

He was really good at Gremio (brazilian team) and in the u20. But nowadaysI don't think succeed at brazilian league is enough anymore, since everyone good leaves early, like Lucas and Pato.
