Thierry Henry to FC Barcelona !

Barcelona in talks to sign Henry Henry appears set for a move to Spain Barcelona are in talks with Arsenal with a view to signing Thierry Henry, BBC Sport understands. Officials for the Spanish club are in London negotiating with the Gunners over a reported £16m transfer fee.
Barcelona hope to close the deal by next week for Arsenal's record goalscorer who has long been linked with a move to the Nou Camp.
The 29-year-old's agent, Jeff Weston, told BBC Sport: "The SEM Group have no comment to make."
Earlier in June, the agency rubbished reports from France that the Arsenal star had agreed a provisional three-year contract with Barcelona.
606: DEBATE Do you think this is a good deal for Arsenal?
Henry signed a new four-year contract with the Gunners last year but appeared to cast doubt on his future in June when he said he was flattered by interest from AC Milan.
This came after he said he was "devastated" when Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein left the club in April because of "irreconcilable differences" with the rest of the board. Both AC Milan and Barcelona had declared their interest in the player, who has been constantly linked with a big-money move away from Arsenal for the last few summers.
Meanwhile, former Arsenal team-mate Patrick Vieira told BBC Five Live that he feared Henry would leave the Gunners if the Premiership side did not bring several world-class players.
"If Arsenal bring two or three big names that will show Thierry that they want to compete," said the current Inter Milan player.
"If that's not the case Thierry will ask himself what is the best for him."

Fake for now. Until you get quotes from Henry or Wenger confirming this in the articles then it may be considered true. I already had news about this back in the papers 3 or 4 times. After the first time, there came out an article quoting him saying he's an Arsenal player. Then the papers reported him twice for confirming a move. And then after that day, I saw press conference on tv with him saying he's going to consult legal advice about the story and he again reiterates "now an Arsenal player". So, it cannot be true yet. I think it's the fkin media(or one idiot magazine) are trying to pressure or cause rift between players/clubs/managers so that there will be real transfers as a result.

Well if its true and I hope it is, congrats to Arsenal you guys just fucked up your title chances for the next 5 years.

Many players want to retire at Barcelona. Look at Henrik Larsson. Guy just wanted to play football on european lvl and he won Champions League. I'm sure Henry wants a success on the end of his career and he just sees that he cant achieve it with Arsenal.

Henry-Barca given for sure here too

lol i can't believe they are only paying 24 milion for him
henry in my opinion is at the HIGHEST level you can put any player on! even if he is 30 he is worth at least 40 milion euros (is it EURO or EUROS?)
[edit]

It's done, 24 million euros. 10 per year salary
I don't agree with you Raidern, Henry is not at his top level, he played pretty average this season. I think the great deal is for Arsenal and him because of the 40 million he is gonna earn.
Obviously is a great signing for Barça, but it's risky. I mean, Van Nistelrooy was the same case but he is a rebound hunter/header fordward, so he does not need any adaptation, but Henry has a very special style, I need to see him at Barça to see if he can fit their play.

i didnt want him in barca
i agree with you telemako

henry has been injured like the entire season.. he played with injury for a long time and that obviously set him back. if he gets completely rid of them he'll still be a top player.

Yet another one on Henry to Barca(my country's paper): http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=/2007/6/23/sports/18116450&sec=sports
Hmm.. okay, from the article I linked, the agent denied the move. And yet no quotes from Henry or Wenger about it. And also, Henry's agent is different from the one posted by shemakesme (Jeff Weston vs Jerome Anderson). Hmm..?
@Telemako How credible is this Cadena Ser radio and the El Pais newspaper? Know anything about them?
And who are these quoted Barca officials?
I still don't want to believe it until Henry confirms it himself.

$38m Henry set for Barca
From correspondents in Madrid June 23, 2007
ARSENAL has agreed to sell France international striker Thierry Henry to Barcelona for 24 million euros ($38 million), a Barcelona spokesman said today (AEST), but denied media reports a four-year deal is sealed.
"It's still not been confirmed," said the spokesman, adding discussions had been going on in London between Barca's financial affairs vice-chairman, Ferran Soriano, and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
Earlier, Spain's usually well-informed Cadena Ser radio quoted club sources as saying the deal had been finalised, and Barcelona-based sports journal El Mundo Deportiv also said it was closed and that Henry would arrive in the Catalan metropolis tomorrow for presentation next week.
He is reportedly to undergo a medical on Monday.
Barca, pipped at the post for the league title by Real Madrid, had been chasing the 29-year-old World Cup winner for more than a year, and now expect to line him up alongside Cameroon hotshot Samuel Eto'o and Ronaldinho, in a forward line which also includes Argentina starlet Leo Messi.
Henry has spent eight seasons at Arsenal but has grown frustrated at the club's lack of European success.
He was a member of the side which lost to Barca in the 2006 Champions League final.
Arsenal had been hoping for a transfer fee in the region of 35 million euros ($55 million) but, with Henry 30 this (northern) summer, Barca appears to have been able to knock it down.
British media earlier this week quoted Eto'o as saying his close friend would soon join him at the Nou Camp.
"He is a great mate of mine and we will play all together," Eto'o was quoted as saying.
Henry started off his career as a precocious winger with Monaco under Wenger's tutelage in 1994, a year before the latter headed off to Grampus Eight in Japan.
After playing a cameo role in France's World Cup win on home soil in 1998, Henry joined Juventus in 1998 but played barely half-a-season there before heading back to the Riviera for a brief spell.
Then Arsenal came calling with Wenger at the helm in 1999 and, after he turned his protege into a centre-forward, Henry blossomed into one of the greatest players in the world, scoring more than a goal every other game in some 250 league matches over eight seasons.
He also won the 2000 European Championship with France.
Barca, keen to reassert its dominance over Real Madrid next season, is also looking at AS Roma's Romania defender, Cristian Chivu, with club secretary Txiki Begiristain in Rome with a 13 million euro ($21 million) offer and the added carrot of Brazil defender and former Arsenal man Sylvinho as a deal makeweight.
Catalan media said Begiristain had met Roma's technical director Danielle Prade and unveiled his offer.
Arsenal are so stupid it almost defys belief. To sell arguably the best player in the world at a time when they really need him just defys belief.
Wow.

Not confirmed. I think media waiting outside their meeting room then speculate trying to force a revelation/decision. Henry, plz cancel the deal and sue the liars!

Bet you Arsenal fans regret spending your whole roll on that shiny new stadium only to have no money left to buy players and being forced to see perhaps your two most important players in history in two years. I think 24 million euros or 16 million pounds is a fair price considering he is 30, was injured last season and Van Nistelrooy's speculated fee was 10 million pounds. I think he will do well in Barca because he is one of the most brilliant players ever regardless of his speed.

by the way Arsenal good luck fighting for a UEFA cup spot next season
