On November 15th/16th, NorCal will be hosting an Apex Qualifier in Oakland. Confirmed attendees so far include Mew2King, Hax, Silent Wolf, ColBol, Zhu, PewPewU, Shroomed, SFAT, HugS, MacD, DoH, Gahtzu, and Flash. Flash is the current top player in Japan (not The Ultimate Weapon unfortunately). Other likely entrants include The Moon, who is having his own fundraiser. Of course, you should also expect all your SoCal favorites like S2J, Fly Amanita, WestBallz, etc. to be there, though they have not confirmed yet. HungryBox has also shown some interest, and since Mango is moving back to California this week, he is another likely attendee. Don't be surprised if AZ shows up in full force, as Axe often comes to California regionals.

It will be streamed on twitch.tv/showdownsmash

SICK will tune in for sure
i've tuned into showdownsmash a couple times for weeklies(maybe?) and I think it was you Shreik who was commentating for some of it. what days are these usually on because I would like to tune in more often.

Tuesday nights we have a weekly in a bar, except this coming Tuesday, which will be our first week off in a long time. We have tournaments on many Saturdays though. Tune in this Saturday to see our monthly. I'll be commentating a lot of teams but probably not singles.

343, there aren't a lot of vods of Mexi, who you basically have to beat to get out of pools. I found him vs Weedlord as Ganon and it was close, and really old vods of him as both spacies that I didn't watch. You could potentially do it, I think.

Are seeds based on local/regional/national placements?

Thanks I also found a vod of his Falcon vs Bizz's Ganon, and apparently he took a set... better make sure my neutral game is safe!!

Tourney starts at 11 AM PST on twitch.tv/showdownsmash. Someone should put it on TL calendar if they know how.

Was a good day of smashing. I watched quite a bit of it.

I would rather have had fly in the top 4, but I'm still happy.

I'm not a big IC's fan so I'm fine with that.
Also let's talk about that 4 (frame perfect?) shines from Hax, my body wasn't ready. Pretty hype for literally no contact lol.

20XX tourney for real. god damn.

Might have been a little too much Fox but I don't hate 20XX as much as a lot of people. Pretty excited for the SW vs Hax GF runback though.

SilentWolf still doesnt get much respect even though he was top 8 EVO and now 2nd here.

Easily the best teams tournament i've ever seen.
I was really impressed by alan's peach in teams. sooooo close from taking out hax/m2k

I was at a local here in BC (we go up/down and play with the washington guys) and everyone was getting hype over SW's run. Good shit
|
Dude wtf do you usually do this well in nationals
Jesus christ you beat some good players, i had no idea you were that good lol
|
This tournament was absolutely incredible! I Loved the finals commentary, i loved the uncertainty, the upsets!
Didn't watch teams yet, but those gifs look nice!

MLG I got like 49th or something and I lost to two NorCal players. Evo I got 65th and I SDed five times in my last set. Big House 4 I got 49th, with a rather frustrating elimination to Drephen of all people. Then here I got 17th. I'd say my results at big tournaments are pretty consistent, and I am basically getting one "equivalent" round further every 1-2 tournaments. "Equivalent round" meaning just taking into account the relative difficulty of the tournament.
|
how much better have you got compared to when you were in Freiburg/Sweden?
|
I think I'd consistently 3stock myself from back then. The frustrating part about playing in Europe is that it would always take like a day of playing to shake off the rust since the last time I played. That's part of why I do well at big tournaments. The first day there, or the smashfests the night before the tournament starts, always helps me play well by the time the important matches are happening.
