not sure if shoutcast is realistic. I mean, do you want to cast two players with lvl15 or lower play each other? maybe rather cast a showmatch between some good players, like someone0815 :D. hes lurking in this forum now and then
the focus should be on fun, so that we will want to do it again. then maybe we can grow a little community out of it and look further.

I think the shoutcast or at least a stream with an obs is not a bad idea because of this small tournament set up , lets assume we gather 16 players and a few other people who want to obs , realistically speaking since we will be committing a good amount of time to the tournament , non of us wants to sit around for a while doing nothing , and with the high number of obs from different places around the world and different ISPs lag can be a real issue , so the stream can be a good alternative to check out the games , have a good time and check out the opponents.
From my experience running the sc2 section of WCG Jordan for as long as it existed , I think this is essential.
On a different note again from my experience running the sc2 section of WCG Jordan , I think this tournament will be very fun and hilarious because of our various levels....sure there will be games that will be rofl stomps , others might be bad , but tournaments on this scale usually provides some seriously amazing replays that makes you say " OMG WTF ! XD " in a friendly cool way , I still have replays from WCG Jordan 2012 , in the finals a zerg player kept on busting the terran player and cheesing until the score was 2-2 ( bo5 ) , at the final match the terran player put up THE most ridiculous sim cities I have ever seen XD , they were both Platinum at the time.
Once I get home I'll try to find that replay and load a screen shot , you guys need to seriously see this , or I can post the replay pack if anyone is interested.
Edit : I also have a sweet set up and an unlimited 20 MB internet connection , I never shoutcasted before , my voice is horrible and my game knowledge is shitty , but I dont mind streaming and obsing ( without commentary ) if shit isnt working out , or having someone knowledgeable on skype.

Let's take it slow, Tchado, hehe.
It's a first-time friendly tournament, we'll see how it all goes and if it does go well, we will repeat it. Then, perhaps, we can think about prizes. We're doing this for fun!

Dude, that's awesome! But how would you pay it out at the end? Paypal?
|
lol if there 100$ to be won, I think we'll have some pros come over ^^ if somebody casted my noobyness and Id get it as a vid, thatd be worth some money for me too
If tourney happens im gonna train for it )))
|
i don't think having prizes is a good idea right now. can't speak for anyone else ofc, but the games aren't probably gonna be that good, at least not for now. on another note, what's the map pool gonna be?
|
I agree. I think a prize for the very first tournament is over the top. Let's skip that for now, though it's nice of you to want to donate Tchado!
Still 12 players (13 with me) signed up. 4 more guys!
|
Ok i'll skip for now ..... and a discussion on the maps isnt such a bad idea , what should we go for ?
|
Really tempted, but living in Korea with the timezone difference and having an erratic schedule might not work out...
|
Stick to standard?
Echo Isles Melting Valley Secret Valley Turtle Rock etc.
|
ye, pretty much. throw in terenas stand and twisted meadows and it should be enough i think.
|
I'm gonna try to make a map :D
Doubt it'll be ready, but if most of us like it we could use it.

+TM, TS?

Well. Let's take the standard maps, aye.
Echo Isles, Secret Valley, Twisted Meadows, Turtle Rock, Ancient Isles, Melting Valley, Gnoll Wood, Terenas Stand, and perhaps Lost Temple?
If we manage to get 16 people, I say bo1 for Ro16, bo3 for Ro8 & Ro4, then bo5 for finale. If we don't have the time, we can do bo1 for Ro8 too.
To sum up:
Map pool EI, SV, TM, TR, AI, MV, GW, TS & LT
Format Bo1 for Ro16, Bo3 for Ro8 & Ro4, Bo5 for Finale

I voted "yes" but it should be noted that I'm only more or less familiar with the first 3 maps (Echo, Valey, Meadows), played a some games on them and watched Grubbys commentaries ;P

Sounds good to me! What's the update on how many players have signed up?
