It didn't help Durant having to guard Gasol/ZBo for large stretches of that series. On one hand you have to really feel for OKC--they lost a legit top 10 player at the worst possible time. No other team could recover from such a loss. I mean, maybe Miami could lose say Wade and still prob be OK but no other team could lose a guy of WB's quality and still be expected to make a deep run.
OKC definitely has a problem with its depth though. They need some reliable shooters like a Novak/Dunleavy/Korver type guy who can be had for a good price and can reliably help in spreading the floor.
Perk's contract has become a cancer on that team which small markets just can't afford. The guy is as untradeable as a player can be and is going to be a real burden the next two years (even if they do amnesty him).

A good comparison between the two teams is not going to be possible. They are too different. That said, Miami's bench sure as shit better have a higher %. They're playing with 3 (or 2 1/2) All Stars and ones that suck defenders into the paint much more effectively. If you're not taking a shot that's a bunny or wide open you are fucking up, and if you do you get the Mario Chalmers treatment. Miami runs a more complex offense? OK. But on the other side, your suggestion to OKC applies to Martin. ONE guy should be running round ball screens I guess. Who else you got? Fisher? Sefalosha? And these guys had plenty of wide open looks at the basket and clanked most of them.
I don't know how an argument about whether or not the OKC roleplayers were gunshy has turned into this and I don't even know where this is going anymore.

Kidd had an open fast break and missed the layup...

You can't break the curse that easily.

The Heat don't play with Wade/Lebron cutting across the middle much anymore. The most double teaming any of them get is when Lebron is in the post, but Durant gets more than that. Look at the Heat's offense when Wade was out. It's the same deal.
And Sef could get more open looks as well. All you need to do is look at the ball movement and how many open looks they get. The Heat have been missing a TON of open 3's this playoffs as well, yet they're still crushing them in FG %.

Sucks losing Neal for the Pacers.

Yeah Hill, because DJ Augustin is failing it up right now with dumb plays.

Stephenson isn't the smartest guy ever, but he plays hard. That dunk he just tried to pull looked like a trainwreck in slow motion.

Sam Young has never been very bright.

I see what he was trying to do, and it made sense, but that was dumb. To be fair JR took a couple more steps after the foul before entering a shooting motion.

Yeah, really, just let him shoot from 30 feet. It's JR Smith.
|
The conundrum that is JR Smith is that he makes the ridiculous shots, but bricks the spot up open threes.

Kidd at 8.5 games, 182 minutes without scoring on 0/17

What the hell are the refs doing?

Yikes, Pacers are 8-18 from FT land. This is why they'll never beat the Heat--their offence is just too patchy.

Kendrick Perkins finished with a NEGATIVE PER in the playoffs. -0.7 = worst ever with 200+ mins.
