Fair enough. Do you have any recommendations for a decently strong, cheap, newbie-friendly build thats updated for 1.2, then? I was hoping for a spellcaster, but it seems like most of the more fun builds are pretty expensive :/ | ||

I was hoping for a spellcaster, but it seems like most of the more fun builds are pretty expensive :/ just to let u know most of the guides are not fully updated for 1.2 (usually the tree) but the concepts are still valid. detonate dead should still be powerful for hc in 1.2 http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/799504 use searing bond/flameblast on a +1 fire sceptre to level before transitioning to dd at around lvl50-60. freezepulse and ice spear has been heavily buffed in 1.2, u can do either ci crit version (stronger but argh reflect) or a duo totem (weaker but no reflect to worry about) version not much established guides for 1.2 on those yet maybe these help http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/960124 http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/995262 the usual suspects like flameblast, firetrap and incinerate are still great spells for HC. | ||

Not considering flameblast, dd, SRS. most likely freezepulse/ice spear considering their insane buffs. i tried it on taiwan 1.2 and they are really good even for levelling. spark (yes lol) and lightning ball also has nice buffs | ||

Flame surge does very good damage afaik, the issue was the area of effect which was very small. It has been changed too. Ball lightning worked, not the best clear speed but some very safe builds with knockback support for exemple. And now damage has been buffed. Spell echo is now a must have for any spell user I believe... Dunno about stormcall, haven't seen that used in a while. Considering the huge buffs to cold spells and their CC mechanic, I can see them becoming the most played. | ||
