Just hit #55 overall with 10th ranger as lvl17,something. Only other time I played in the race it was the very first one when I failed as duelist. Pretty decent.
Ended up throwing a lvl15 bow because I was underleveled in the zone when it dropped (13), which really fucked me up majorly. Ended up finishing the race with a long bow which is a lvl10 bow... 2 alchs and 2 chaos... ;(
Think I'll play ranger next time aswell, seems like not a lot of people pick that because it has kinda shitty start. I took the wrong route in freeze zone and never hit merveil, kind of a shame since I did really good in that zone since I could offscreen with split arrow.

@Varanice, Nothing duelist specific, but if you cling to the northern wall in Goat area, you usually won't meet Alira. And for the Frozen Abyss, if you stick to the left and go down, you can usually skip Merveil. I doubt you want to kill either as a duelist.
The large chest in the spider zone is usually bottom right for me if it's there (which seems to be about 1/3?).
Helman has been streaming recently. He has VoDs of at least his top run, probably more. I guess that's where you should start. Good luck !
@Zoroxo, I don't think I often want to hit Merveil as Ranger unless I have insane DPS or I'm really not close to level 12. Below 50dps, she takes way too long to kill and you can die at any time. Obviously if you have a good long bow or insane quiver, go for it, but that's been the case only once for me. I usually have a paltry 40dps and mana problems with a short bow in that zone, which is enough for the monkey area, and I know I'll alch the guaranteed quiver in this zone and the composite bow +20% quality at level 15 anyway.

20 mins to next descent. Maybe I should try witch or shadow instead seeing as there was even fewer of them in the top. Strongly considering freeze pulse shadow that gets EK at second chest

Well that sucked. I was 1st to level 2 and 3 but then I got some of the worst lag ever, which consisted of me cleaving atleast 4 times without hitting anything at what I thought was melee range and then got stunlocked by skeleton rhoas. :/

At the start I was like, wow freeze pulse is really good, maybe I should stick to it. Then I got to the statue zone and even though it says resist chaos damage, I did almost no damage to them whatsoever, coupled with doorways and freeze pulse... 
Ended up alt f4 after a failed run for it due to desynched into the same room 2 times in a row then getting blocked by an invisible statue

Died at lvl 19 in the descent still made top 30 overall. 1 level behind you pwere. Second time playing ranger in descent. next time ill beat you

Next time I won't do so bad in the last 30 mins =P
Had the best start I ever had, but forgot to keep some RNG for the later levels. That ribbon level is such a huge gamble... if it's filled with casters you barely get any XP and run out of flasks, but if it's filled with ribbons, you clear it in 4 mins and level up three times while running two quicksilvers.

Yeah I ran into 3 LMP casters and insta-died. Pretty unfortunate. I think they'll fix this zone at some point though. I desynced so hard it wasn't funny.

There's not much to fix, really. Apart from the doors being so hard to open when there are 10 ribbons on the other side. It's such an easy level if you one shot packs, but that requires either a 50%+ physical composite bow, or good damage rolls on at least four items.

That's what I'm saying. They have to make it less of a gamble. Change the map layout, bigger doors and less RNG in monsters who spawn. There are definitely fixes they can make to this zone.
We still need some people for the 1 week race, if anyone is interested send me a PM. teamspeak is absolutely required though.

Alright, this is getting pretty stupid.
Whenever I get a bunch of mobs with flicker strike, I get about 1-2 seconds of lag and I die. I have no idea how to fix this, but its ruining my life.

I used to have that with summon skeleton and funky skills like Arc. Not sure what fixed it, I think I deleted my shader folder, ran the repackager and updated my video drivers. It's probably worth a try!

Shadow in descent is fucking dumb. It's ridiculously rough/slow because you're pretty much forced to go freeze pulse unless you find another gem

In fairness, getting a demi wouldn't mean very much if it was just handed out left and right. Last season, for instance, more than 2300 demis were rewarded, hence why that number has been drastically cut back this season. After all, the rarer it is, the more bragging rights you get.
