Everyone's busy talking about the Descent stuff, but I'd figure I'd say thanks again for the advice a few pages back about suggested builds for getting started.
I started today with a marauder to work towards a VK build in anarachy. Made it to level 31, and even though the build doesn't come together until later- I've had fun with the first several hours. Like I said, I played pretty much the first week of beta- and obviously the game has come far since them. Dragged two friends in and pulled them all the way to 25 in a pretty short time.
Anyways, thanks again. Maybe I'll have to give this descent stuff a try sometime in the next month.

I guess that gets me some health nodes quite a bit faster at least. I took evasion into movespeed into life. After picking the lone 8% AS from the other side, of course.
But I don't think this is good. You get Thick Skin right after you clear the ice zone, and the next three zones are a cakewalk anyway, so you might as well rush for TS, and then grab finesse + 8% AS. This way at least you'd get Thick Sin at level 12, which you should hit early in the ice zone.
I think full damage while wearing a leather belt for the ice zone is the best combo for RoA (with faster projectile, hatred).
This is the new plan: + Show Spoiler +1- Alluring (QS) 2- Curious (RoA) 3- Curious (ShortBow) 4- Alluring(Alch) 5- Alluring (Hatred) 6- Curious (FasterP) 7- Curious (Alch/Chaos/Bow/Rugged) 8- Curious(Flask,Chaos,Coral ring) 9- Alluring (Bow) or Curious (Gear) 10- Curious (?)

Have you been getting medium flask drops? I think a lot of my problem is that I never get a medium life flask, but I want to play greedy with the quicksilver. I know if I pick the medium flasks in the first chest then I'll finally get a bunch of them as drops since I don't need them ^_^
Maybe I should just play duelist since I'm terrible.

I got one somewhat early, with 4+ medium mana. But you don't really need it until the statues. Besides, QS is also very useful defensively.

Meh that sucked, the alarm didn't work so i overslept and missed the race. Whatever, there are more.
Oh and anyway, no reason to be happy to find a GCP. I'd actually be mad to find an exalted, haha. Although it could be helpful to make for a better weapon xD
Nice, the next Descent race is at an EU-friendly time! 4 PM Yay! Also odd that this time almost everyone died here, haha i guess you all played not as careful as first time where you wanted to explore safely?

The worst currency is regrets. GCP and exalted would likely be a negligible bonus, but at least it is something. If you screw up your skill build with so few skill points I dunno ^_^

Anyway, i very much have doubts anyone will reach the last level or even lvl 25. There are plenty challenging zones and one hour isn't much. Maybe if one has incredibly drop luck AND is Krippers/Hellmannn/CWU or similar.
Overall the race seemed to have been much less Duelist biased (and people did worse).

Hey Pwere, for 135 min solos, do you know what top marauders are using for their build? Haven't found any high level marauder streams.

I've honestly never used leap slam as a dps skill, always used groundslam. What are the advantages disadvatges of using leap?
|
advantage is the 100% dmg modifier, the imo more reliable dmg and that you don't get hit as often (from ranged enemies at least). depending on the attack speed modifiers it is also a nice movement skill. also for jumping down clifffs. with good weapons you'll one hit leap the enemies, thats always fun
disadvantage is that you can desync sometimes (dont jump up and down cliffs too often lol) and you can jump into death if you make a mistake, for example jumping into 3 merveil's chosen (or what the freezers are called) with exploders around. also groundslam isn't really melee so it might be more safe in general.
both have good stun though if you deal enough dmg.
it takes some experience but it's much faster imo. i also prefer sweep over groundslam, specially if the weapon is strong enough to one-hit with it.

Bleh, had a monstrous RoA setup (85dps) in frozen abyss, and ran into merveil in a corridor. I was firing away from the edge of the screen, then I couldn't move for some reason and just died. I guess Merveil desynced and froze me somehow.
That zone is pretty dumb and I hope they change it. Exploders that deal 70+ damage are just no fun when you have sub 200 life and you have to move downward the entire zone. One freeze and you're dead/logout.
ps. RoA is pretty bad for this race. You can't ever herd monsters and they tend to spread out due to buggy corridor/doorway AI. Gotta skip more zones until monkeys.
|
I alched a +1 cold shield and a +1 fire wand .. had firetrap FP setup on shadow... same as pwere i desyned somehow in merveils room and died before I could logout
|
Ya.....got perm-frozen in Merveils room. Knew it was going to happen, all my gear and everything was shit. 30 dps vs like 70ish I was rocking at that point last night.
|
Died with 30 seconds left going full retard. Finally got some flask drops and made it to level 16; even got a bubbling large while I was running through frozen.
#215 overall. Wasted too much time getting through statues
|
Got lvl 17, 10th templar, 81 overall. I went really slow and safe and it paid off, I had 39/11/11/-10 resistances at the end.
My glacial hammer dps was pretty fn good too at 117. I killed perpetus with ez mode freezing.
Ice nova can be really cheap because if you stand around a corner, projectiles wont hit you and monsters AI is wonky, while you keep on DPSing them. Really good skill for safety, but clearing speed slowed down a lot. Even my firestorm did more dps in the end.
|
The exp you lose when you die counts for rank actually. I could have been a bit higher if I didn't die at the end for no reason ^_^
|
lol that sucks, imagine getting to merciless zone then dying x.x
I found that I always was in need of Alchs, but I also REALLY needed my colored links and just couldn't get them. Next time I'm getting the chrome/fuse chest for Added Lightning - Nova
quicksilver super important I found, only way to get out of some slippery situations

Alright so I'm leveling a witch for the first time in Onslaught. Should I just be gearing up with Mara gear? I'm in A2 Cruel and once my ES goes out, which is fairly quickly @only 446 ES, those fucking rangers just pierce the shit outta me and a group of them will get me down to half health (full life@1000hp). How should I be gearing a leveling witch, as in what type of gear? ES with Armour or strictly Armor?
