Will you even read the mods on it if it doesn't roll orange?

Oh, yikes. What happened? =( Well, mostly it was that I hit merciless and hadn't re-maxed my resists so my cold was like 50% and I ran into a multi-projectile rare merveil's chosen in a tight tunnel, then didn't react properly because I thought I could tank it. Too many close calls previously had kinda inured me to the danger so I played dumb. Really I should have made an effort to re-gear for merciless (a decent amount of my gear was from early cruel/late normal), but 55 seems like such an awkward time to re-gear because you are so close to being able to use all that end-game lvl 60 stuff Show nested quote +On March 27 2013 23:27 Ryalnos wrote:On March 27 2013 20:27 Marradron wrote: I'm having a lucky oneweek race. I'm scared I'll lose my Ele Cleave Templar at some point soon, because I keep getting close calls since I'm really squishy right now, and I'm in the middle of skill point "highways" before I reach the good stuff in the Duelist section.

Cruel Vaal down! FUCK YES! That bitch has taken two of my previous HC characters. FUCK THAT BITCH!! Fuck yeah it feels good finally getting past that fucker. Now to make it to merciless.

Grats Xinder. I would recommend just partying or having a high level player (friend or fellow TLer) to just smoke the boss for you. Much safer...plus losing all that time invested in a HC character is a real bummer. Was for me, I'm only now gradually starting to play again.

Well, it sucks to lose your character, but I don't really see the point if you have to "cheat" for the bosses. I say that, but I play softcore so... ^^

yeah man if you thought cruel vaal was hard just wait until you see merci vaal... He claims hundreds a day in HC. I can remember how many times I pugged that kill and people died. I usually have some1 help me now or if I cant find anyone I just pay the 1-3chaos fee most people charge. It's not worth the risk of dying imo.. I get the whole honor part but being brave sometimes is being stupid lol if you want a free merci kill just let me know

I'm not sure HC is the way to go if you just want to enjoy the game. There is always a fear of death, unless this is what you enjoy then by all means. Most people don't want to see their time and effort thrown in the gutter, so naturally HC is a game of caution and efficiency.
Defense(boring) vs more offense. Lots of content skipped and danger avoided to reach safe farm zones.

I enjoy the challenge. I enjoy the game because of the challenge. I've learned through my deaths where not to go and where to farm. I don't mind the deaths that have happened because it's something I can learn from and improve on. So the first time I went to cruel and died to fetid pool I learned not to do that shit b/c it's not worth it. So now I skip it. When Vaal face smashed my EK witch I went back and killed her ass with another EK witch but this time made sure if she slammed to just stay back. Learning from my mistakes and improving is what I enjoy in the challenge that is HC.

I did, I skip Fetid pools in all difficulties and don't stand close to Vaal :D

If it's yellow/blue I won't even bother.

After I decided to quit HC because half of my character died to game crashes, going back to SC feels like playing a game with cheats. I do tend to play more reckless, but it feels like the HotS campaign: when Kerrigan dies, just wait a minute and she will come back, making the campaign easy even on brutal.

What is the easiest way to level a marauder through Normal/Cruel?
I'll be speccing almost exclusively life nodes and "travel" nodes (Strength and Intelligence) for my first 55+ points.
Is it just groundslam with heavy strike for bosses?

Pretty much. You can also add in leapslam if you like. I prefer it for the mobility. I also like glacial hammer for single target damage since it occasionally chills/freezes them, letting you regen some more health.

I used Frenzy and bear trap. You can run into some DEX problems though. Basically bear trap is better than any single target skill for killing rares and you want to aoe or run past anything else.

glacial hammer + WED is op

I'll have 14 base dex (plus whatever from items) at around level 50 so... Bear trap/Frenzy looks like a No. Plus traps feel really awkward to me in this game (although I get that they are good).
I could try Glacial + WED, is it better than Infernal blow + WED?
Either way ground slam for the crappy mobs. I'll be bypassing completely all the elemental/weapon elemental nodes so I'm not sure that any of the elemental attacks will be better than just heavy strike for me...
PS: Is the interaction between Eldritch Battery and Discipline as dumb as I think it is? (basically free mana assuming you have +ES or +Mana nodes).

Glacial hammer is better imo, but it also requires a mace or staff(A lot of the damage of Infernal Blow is the AoE after the target dies, but you're looking for a single target skill). You don't need WED from armor/passives to make these skills better either. The skill choice early on matters very little honestly. There are more significant ways to increase your leveling/clear speed than selecting the correct single target skill if you really want to optimize.
Frenzy/Beartrap forces you to wear a(n) Jade (Onyx) and take the DEX node just above the Marauder starting area, but I also switched to bow at the start of cruel where the DEX really starts to become troublesome. Bear trap does insane damage and is worth using in pretty much any build just because of this fact. Bear trap is easily the best single target DPS skill early on as long as you have enough traps to throw (use multiple bear trap gems if you need to).
Yes, Discipline gives you a net gain in mana with EB.

I loved this game in the beginning and after a while i got bored of it. I don't know why really.

What do you guys think of Lightning Strike on HC? Started as a Duelist, planning to move up toward the Templar tree, seems as if it's a good ability. Not sure about end-game though.
