Why would Juri be in there? Story reasons?

Anyway I'm getting pretty hyped, It looks way better than the first time they showed. I still think it's a bit flashy though and I hope they keep working on the sound effects.

She's basically the new main antagonist of the series after you kill Seth. Her storyline is very unfinished. She's also the character capcom pushed the most in SF4 by far.

Online won't ever be like offline - that's just physics. I'm sure improvement is possible, though. Rollback netcode might have enough positives to make it worth considering, but even that won't be a magic bullet fix.

Nah, it will be possible.

For the record, capcom just announced that SFV will be PS4 console exclusive... The fun part ? They said "even with re-releases"

LMAO they pretty much confirmed (not that it need confirmation) that they game WILL have rereleases

You could try some rough calculations and see what comes out. The speed of light in fibre optics is like 0.7~c I believe. U.S coast to coast... say 2500 miles. That gives a coast to coast ping of around 25 ms. Reality is of course slower but this will probably be the cap for a long time unless they figure out how to send data with quantum teleportation or shit like that.

Even with perfect cables and equipment there is definitely an upper limit to how good netcode can possibly be. Good engineering can't beat physics. In a vacuum, light would travel around the equator in 133 ms. And that's in a straight line, and in a vacuum.

In reality, the signal has to go through cables, which is about 30% slower. The cables also don't go straight, they zig-zag between cities. Every zig and zag from city to city also has to go through a router which slows it down even more.

All told, you can easily double the "ideal" ping response, and that's as good as it will ever get in your lifetime. We're not even that far off as we speak, with 120-130 ms from Europe to the US east coast being standard.

Better netcode is always being worked on, though. It's a tricky nut to crack. Supposedly, Skullgirls had the best netcode of any fighting game. Anyone here have any experience with it?

Skullgirls is using GGPOs rollback netcode, that's why it is that good. Every fighter should be using it but it's not that easy to implement and can cause performance issues if game is too complex. Its basically recording the local input and updating your game without lag, it also sends it to the opponent then rollbacks his game loop if input mismatches with what prediction algorithm says and updates the game loop in single frame to what it is supposed to be. The end result is no input lag, but animations can spike and glitch if you lag, because it is rollbacking and correcting animations and stuff.

GGPO is the best netcode for fighting games out there
