agree, plinking can rip forever

Well, I have to say, after looking at SF5 in action my fears about the game speed have been mostly dispelled. Some things (like throws) have even been sped up from USF4. Hitstun is still kind of silly, but if it helps people hit confirm and land their BnBs better it might better retain a player base.
Color me optimistic. Here's hoping one of my characters makes it in.
|
I thought it was the hitstun but it's actually the screen shake on hit that is the problem for me. I hated that in Diablo III too.
I love Birdie though. Definitely the one I'm most interested in so far.

No plinking, 2 frames buffer for links is cool
Not sure about no 360, and Lightning legs being a QCF input tho...
|
I like the lightning legs input change (maybe it should be HCF though), the piano inputs are just so taxing on your fingers. I've played Honda a lot in SF4 and can do jab xx HHS pretty reliably, but it's still annoying to do especially if you're feeling a bit tired.
I have to say the first reveal clips of SFV looked pretty crappy, but the E3 gameplay footage has been really impressive. I'm loving the pace of the game, the high damage, high stun, no "brainless" defensive options like crouch teching and invincible backdash, no chip death, etc. It's not perfect yet (walk speeds could be faster, and less hitstop), but I've gone almost fully from pessimist to optimist regarding this game.

They can't leave it like this, right? That's ridiculous, she should donate about 1/3 of that bounce to cammy.

Notable entrants:
- Daigo Umehara, consistently the best Street Fighter player the world has ever seen
- Nemo, the best (and most bullshit) Rolento player currently living, recently unveiled a sick Decapre
- Momochi, an incredible Ken player who is on a "best in the world" level streak of complete dominance
- Infiltration, Evo champion, best player in the world most days and top 5 any other. God tier with many characters
- Xian, Evolution 2013 champion and uncontested best Gen player in the world
- Tokido, a godlike Akuma player, called "Murderface" for his on-stage presence
- Misse, world class Makoto player who - unlike Haitani - actually likes playing Makoto
- Poongko, top 10 in the world and without a doubt the best Seth player to have ever walked the earth
- Bonchan, perennial runner-up and best Sagat player in the world
- Kazunoko, top 10 player in the world and best Yun player on the planet
- Mago, the best Yang player on the planet who just keeps getting better
- Fuudo is part of the Holy Trinity of Fei Long players, and is a super strong contender in any tournament
- GamerBee, Taiwanese player who plays a phenomenal Adon
- Tonpy, the best C. Viper player in Japan and possibly on the planet
- Gackt, part of the Holy Trinity of Fei Long players, less traveled than Fuudo but always a contender
- XiaoHai, amazingly impressive Cammy player who also plays a perfect Sagat counter-pick
- Itabashi Zangief, an amazing Japanese Zangief player who is a constant threat to Snake Eyez' throne
- Kim1234, arguably the best current Bison (Dictator) player in Japan and maybe the world
- HumanBomb, a strong Sakura player though not quite at the level of Chris G
- Shiro, world class Abel player who has inspired a new generation of Abel players
- Santarouman, a Japanese player who mains Sagat and has many scary counterpicks
- Dogura, former #1 Bison (Dictator) in Japan, and now a mean Rolento player
- Eita, a solid up-and-coming Akuma player
- Kindevu, epic tier whore who defies highlight videos, so click on this YouTube search instead
- Gachi-Kun, the "other best Sagat player" in Japan next to Bonchan
- Dakou, the man who OCVd an entire team of high level players... with Dee Jay
Semi-notables: Matsuri (strong Japanese Chun-Li main) RB (a very strong Hugo and Rolento player) Dashio (the "other Seth player") Leslie (another strong Sagat main) BigBird (a very solid Guy player) Reiketsu (a great Vega/Claw player) Sabo Hani (an online C. Viper monster) Kawaguchi (a Japanese Rose player; don't see many of those) Furikuri (fairly notable Rufus) KOK (solid up and coming Evil Ryu player)
Holy fucking shit SEAM
Updated OP with SEAM information, just wanted to share this here.
|
So everyone except maybe Snake Eyez, Smug, Luffy and Ryan Hart? Hype!
|
Almost, except for Pepeday! He hasn't been confirmed yet and I have no idea if he's going. Weird and sad if he isn't, but I haven't found his name attached to this.
I'm also sad there's no KojiKOG or EBI. So if I could have my player wishlist, I would tack on Pepeday, Koji, EBI, Laugh, Dark Jiewa, the US and EU players you mentioned, and of course NuckleDu, just to represent the global scene.
|
That list is damn stacked. Can't wait to catch the games.

SEAM is always stacked, since it's so close to Japan, you basically get all the good asians players. :o
|
Is there any archive footage of the SFV stuff so far? I missed everything yesterday and probably will miss today as well. Need to see some of that Combofiend Kumite

Tentative pools for SEAM are out over at http://gamestartasia.challonge.com/
Brief top seeds/players overview because I'm bored and want to add it to the OP:
[Pool 1] Poongko, Kindevu [Pool 2] Xiaohai, Itabashi Zangief [Pool 3] Pugera, Dogura [Pool 4] Kazunoko, Misse, Matsuri, KOK [Pool 5] Fuudo, Shiro [Pool 6] Tonpy, RB, Daigo (8th seed lol) [Pool 7] Santarouman, "FGC bean"? [Pool 8] Xian, MASCOT? [Pool 9] Mago, Dakou [Pool 10] Tokido, Human Bomb [Pool 11] Gackt, Kuramoti? [Pool 12] Kichi, Gachikun [Pool 13] INFILTRATION, Eita, Reiketsu [Pool 14] Nemo, Dark Jiewa, GamerBee [Pool 15] Bonchan, Kim1234, Big Bird [Pool 16] Momochi, Sabo Hani, Kawaguchi
Predictions: - Kazunoko and Misse will make it out of pool 4, but Matsuri will probably make a fight of it. - Tonpy and Daigo will make it out of pool 6, and RB will probably not make much of a fight of it. - In pool 7, "FGC bean" from Japan is 1st seed. SUC.Tomy and fhqwhgads are seeds 3 and 4. I have no idea. - INFILTRATION and Eita for pool 13. Reiketsu is a really fun Claw player, but I'm afraid Eita will beat him. - Poor Dark Jiewa. Dude can't catch a tournament break. Nemo and GamerBee will pee on him in pool 14. - Bonchan and Kim1234 for pool 15. Hope we catch some of Big Bird's Guy games before he goes out. - Pool 16 is weird. Momochi obviously takes it, but Sabo Hani (C. Viper) and Kawaguchi (Rose) will fight it out.
Pool play is Saturday and top 32 is on Sunday. Top 32 will be stacked as shiiiiiiiiii
Edit: Also I didn't know EX Pugera was going. Added to notables. <3

I know it's unimportant, but I'd really love it if they added the inevitable costumes to the character previews. The animated character previews are sick as they are, that would make the prematch screen shinku sick.
|
Yeeaaaasssss thank you Aylear da gawd
Overall I've liked what I've seen and heard though. Everyone that's played seems to be suuuper on-board with SFV so far. Really exciting stuff.
|
It'll be fun to see how BigBird will fare against other elite players. I think he won all his matches against Xian during that UAE tournament.

My question is, how the hell do I get matched against opponents on my own level? Im at what, 500 BP 400 PP, but im facing guys who do endless combos and are 2500+ against which I stand no chance. That is just super boring and doesnt teach me anything other than the lovely feeling of getting rekt. You have to search for custom games and set the skill level to similar. I believe you can set it to find similar skill level when you host for multiplayer while in practice/story mode.
Thanks for the advice! The rate of rapefests have been reduced from 80% to 50% thanks to this. But the amount of people who just perfect me with 10 hit FADC combos which the game considers to be SAME SKILL is staggering... I'd hate to try More Skilled...
