yea but i definitely play with MUCH shittier players on my smurf. so maybe level still counts?

To an extent level affects who you get matched up with, but I'm not sure to what extent. Rad mentioned you're basically stopped from being matched up one-to-one with high levels until level 12, or something.
It also wouldn't surprise me if MM weighted you toward lower-level ppl to try to stave off rune/mastery disadvantages.
Edit:
The result (btw) is that you end up playing with other inflated-elo lowbies more often than against people who maintained their inflated elo (ie. level 30s).

They usually give the next week's champion rotation when they announce the current week's new rotation, but they didn't do that last week >_>

i just thought all that server downtime signalled a new week.
as for free champ rotations every week for as long as ive been playing has gone like this.
one week, we get the champ rotation + next weeks champ rotation.
next week we obviously go the champ rotation that was posted the week before, but we dont get the rotation for the next week.
the following week, we dont get any indication of what the champ rotation is until it goes live.
then the whole cycle repeats.
its really stupid how regular it is, because it doesnt make sense that riot would make this sort of thing "regular". they are consistent, but not in a good way.
then again im prolly one of the few people who care cause i dont have IP flowing out of my ass and i like playing with random champs for the first half of the week.

I've been making really slow mouse clicks. Actually I think thats sort of helped haha.

So I found my ELO before season 1, which was 2037, 170ish win/110ish loss. Makes me sad because I did play against and with some recognizable people in the ladder before season 1, now I'm stuck in mediocre ELO hell.
Of course anyone in the TL channel has heard me go on and on about this so... ya. I wish something about our ELO before translated into season 1.

Just carried a team to victory over a vastly better composition. The guy that was going to pick Amu on our team got champion denied. Team yelled at me all game to get MR on Garen because they were AP heavy (Why build MR if you are only getting half-focused, or non-focused the whole game?)

I guess I have a main now. My Garen stats are pretty ridiculous compared to the rest of the plethora of champions I play...

If you haven't yet, you should get in on this practice game All mid All Random hype. They're actually a really fun break from some regular SR games, it completely shuffles around the 'tiers' of champions because of the rules. I have yet to not have a good time and I've been in a solid handful of them now.

Nice! I need some tripples and quadras but they're tough to do with capes. Good thing Garen is is a double kill factory with his ult.
I used to play Kassadin all the time, one of my favorite heroes. I haven't been able to play him well since coming back... Some really good player from beta (whose name I cannot remember) shut my whole team down with a flame cloak build on Kassadin and I tried to get it to work like 50 times and I think my knowledge of how to play him was completely erased. The last like 7 losses I got before quitting in December were failed Flame cloak Kassadins...

Haven't been able to play Kassadin much lately because he's so much more fun solo lane but most people aren't open to giving Kass solo lane (dunno why) and there aren't enough jungle players ~_~ I'm getting tired of jungling for idiots though so I might just opt to side-lane Kass and try to screw up enemy junglers, we'll see. I did that tonight and end up buying ~25 wards and an oracle over a 45 minute game, probably the most amount of money I've sunk into wards ever in one game -_-
