This might be off-the-wall, but Destiny uses mass infestors and neural parasite coupled with lings and I've seen him hold it off. Neural parasite got a range buff in LotV, so it's a lot more viable now.
Fungal growth could also trigger the shield ability (the ability only lasts 2 seconds -- about the duration of a fungal growth).
