It's ridiculous enough that they're excluding Major (although I can see potential visa issues), but why on earth not people from a part of Canada? As I live in quebec I've seen this for many contests... I don't think redbull is to blame here, It's because of some strict (stupid) laws we have here. This might give you an idea http://contests.about.com/od/sweepstakes101/f/VoidinQuebec.htm Still doesn't explain why they would let a korean player play in the NA qualifier. I guess they just don't give a !@#$

It takes a lot of bravery to stand up like this! I'm a Scarlett fan and will defend her to the end, and I agree that Red Bull admin is to blame. But to be fair, throwing the finals and not inviting casters to the games was not the most professional thing to do. "Manners" and professionalism are important because she represents Team Acer, even when she's taking a principled stand. It's also not good for her fans and not fair to the casters, who had to wait and fill down-time for over an hour wondering what happened. Personally, I think the safer thing to do would have been to follow Red Bull protocol and play out the games, and then make the issue known afterwards via Twitter, Reddit, or even through the various team management (Millenium, for example, probably has a thing or two to say about what happened to Goswser). That way, she'd protect Team Acer's image (and hers), and she preserves the relationship with Red Bull. Point being ... when it comes to conflict resolution, it's important to take your time and think things through before you act. But Scarlett -- don't be hard on yourself. Stuff like this is learned over time, and when all's said and done, this is still going to be fixed thanks to you. Good luck in Singapore! (and likely Red Bull Battlegrounds as well!)

For more info see here: http://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/1p3qq9/scarlett_loses_on_purpose_to_apoc_because_he_is/ the jig and desrow issue isnt really related, and i think bringing up desrow only weakens scarletts point by distracting from the core issue. desrow and major and whoever else were rightly not allowed to play as the event is purely USA + english canada. thats what it tells you and thats how it is. the problem scarlett is angry about is that the only measures actually put in place by redbull is an IP check and you ticking a box promising to not be lying, which means if you are in the USA short term or know how to use a proxy then you can still play the qualifier. apoc was in the USA only for a few days, his home is in korea, and so was able to sign up using the site but this is clearly against the spirit of the rules. if the signup process is as easy to bypass as using a proxy then whats the point of requiring residency at all? so clearly the spirit of the rule is for you to be a (semi)permanent resident.

No, this is not the spirit of the rule at all and I expect it to be corrected, as it should. That is not why Scarlett was angry. She was angry because there was not a competent admin who could make any decision, much less even help...

We are all still waiting for word on what will happen with the Battlegrounds situation. Scarlett has posted a TwitLonger explaining the situation. They could end up replaying that entire half of the bracket, so I won't assume Scarlett will be getting the spot automatically. However, the event is on November 23rd-24th in NYC. She qualified for IEM Singapore, it will be November 28th-December 1st. The VOD's were scattered all over the place but this is everything I could find. Apoc gets DQ'd, and everyone who faced him will replay their games in qualifier #2. Glad Scarlett made enough noise to make sure the right thing happened.

I can’t say that you’re wrong in this sense, but, to her defense, she (and others before) talked to them for hours and they said to just play the games (to shut up basically). Sometimes you need to break free from the chains of ‘professionalism’ in order to do what you believe is the right thing to do. Strong individuals will always put their own standards above any social convention (as they are more willing to withstand the inevitable repression), unfortunately, however, these are an undervalued exception.
