Coca – ‘I want to face MC’ - Your thoughts on making it to code S? It feels so good that I can’t quite put it into words.
- Did you have any difficulties preparing for today’s matches? The maps were pretty hard but I put in a lot of effort and got good results from that.
- What aspect of your opponent’s play did you focus on? In a situation like in the 2nd set, I used the build I previously used against Noblesse. I knew that he would have defenses set up, so I just built up my forces and went in with a delayed timing.
- What was your predicted chance of making it into code S? I thought it would be around 50 percent.
- Between the two match ups (vs T and vs Z) which one were you more confident in? Personally, I have more confidence in facing terrans.
- Who do you want to face in code S? I don’t want to face a teammate. And I want to face MC in a match. I want to assess my skill.
- Any players you want to avoid? Marineking. Because his macro is pretty good and his control is ridiculous.
- You seem to have a different style to other zergs. I play pretty standard in practice, but whenever I play a match, it seems that my games play out in weird directions.
- Your ambition going into code S? I will make it to the round of 16.
- Any last comments? There are so many people I practiced with. I want to thank everyone for their help. + Show Spoiler +

I'll try track down his original interview upon getting into Code A, I believe that's where he discussed how he didn't actually have a PC at home and was having to practice solely at PC Bangs before getting into the team house
Q. How does it feel to qualify for Code A? A. I don't have a computer at home, so I've been practicing strictly in the PC Bangs. I want to practice more in the team house, but my parents did not allow me to do so. Now that I advanced, I'm going to try to get permission.
Q. Were there any difficult matches? A. Other than the first match, I started off with a loss in the first set. I think all the matches were difficult.
Q. Do you want to play against a particular player? A. This is my first tournament, so I don't know yet.
Q. What is your goal? A. I want to win in Code A, be a good son to my parents and get recognized.
Q. What is your most confident match-up? A. I'm confident against Zergs and Protosses.
Q. What style do you usually play? A. I'm pretty standard. I like to play management games and make sudden attacks.
Q. What are your weaknesses? A. If the game goes on for a long time, I tend to lose focus.
Q. Any comments? A. I want to practice more systemically in the team house.
Finally, a fanclub page for CoCa!!! Sign me up as well! I would love to do some fanart in drawing format, but I kinda terrible at that so will be in other format. Will let you know whenever it is finish (long while though, occupied with other stuff).
sign me up. he is my favorite zerg player. ever since the first interview he gave i was an instant fan when he said i don't have a computer i practice at pc bangs.
Was a fan ever since he played vs Ace in Code A. The whole time Coca was attacking and dropping, and it looked like he was loosing. Though really it was Ace who was faltering and eventually crumbled. Was around the era when Zerg really struggled with Protoss late game compositions.
Even though Nestea, Losira and Drg have been doing quite well lately. I feel that Coca is still the most intriguing Zerg some how, a high potential guy for sure.
Coca lost 1-2, took a game off Keen then lost to Nada followed by Keen. Unfortunate he lost but he gets to keep his Code S spot! Good luck next season Coca.

Same I thought with puzzle in code S combined with byun and coca, zenex would become a dominant force in code S. Puzzle and byun could by themselves but I personally feel as if a strong team should represent all 3 races.

Ahh me too, ZeNEX are my favourite team at the moment and I'm sad to see Coca go but It should be good for him as a player. Hopefully Line can come up from Code B /get more of a chance to go out in GSTL. oh and Core got to the finals of iCCup weekly yesterday. 3-0'd Leenock, ZeNEX hwaiiting <3
I don't know how to feel about this. I really don't like SlayerS and CoCa was the main reason I was a big fan of ZeNEX. I hope he does well but I really don't care for his team.
So happy seeing someone I've liked since the moment I first read about him (thanks code a qualifier interviews <3) coming so far and then getting the chance to absolutely demolish Huk at a big international tournament.

This guy is the zerg Slayers needs. His vT is going to improve so much on this new team. Just needs someone to teach him ZvZ and he'll be another one of those unstoppable zergs.
Sign me up! His play has been improving drastically I'd say after the switch to SlayerS and he's a verrrry entertaining player too lol. GL in the rest of MLG!

Coca impressed me the most at Raleigh. I think he has the most potential to be another Nestea, his game seems so complete, just some decision making rough spots to work out. His dismantling of DRG was how you would teach a student to play ZvZ out of a textbook. Sign me up!
Ares... sooo Gosu and Hipster with his predictions =) sign me in i like his gamestyle... can't see his GSL games because of work... so no input for me outside of MLG =(

His ZvZ vs DRG was so patient and deliberate. I feel that if he brought some of that decision making to ZvT, he can be really good. Anyway, I think Coca has a bright future.

I'm glad that he become so good now, CoCa fighting!
Just watched Code S round of 32 group D Coca slumped onto his keyboard in sadness after loosing to Keen. That game was so bs! Keen only won by floating buildings in the base trade! Terran should have to land buildings to have them count! Go Coca you were the better player!

Keen is a terrible player and only got as far as he did through cheese and luck.
Really great play from Coca. When i saw his group of all Terrans, i was glad cause they weren't TvZ monsters like MVP or MMA. Though they were respectable Terrans, and beating them most certainly shows his improvement in the match up.

Coca won the game against Tajea despite that he never got Baneling speed nor Adrenal Glands, if he had gotten those more Banelings would've connected and his DPS would've been alot higher, so the game wouldn't have been so close. How could he forget such crucial upgrades? Stage fright nerves perhaps?
Damn we are losing one great zerg. I feel it's too harsh on this kid. He obviously dont want to match fixing and he just give in under his old teammate's request as a favor. No one would be such stupid to conduct a real match fixing in front of our eyes.
I imagine either player believed it wouldn't be a big deal, because the only person it would affect would be Byun, with him getting Code A or not depending on the result (assuming Byun makes it further - which he didn't -_-). Of course this doesn't take into account tournament organizers, viewers and other players. He's an excellent Zerg, but if SlayerS believe he needs to think about the way he acts in the Korean progaming scene then they're probably right. Hope to see you soon CoCa.
Too bad, I was looking forward to gauging Coca's ZvT vs Mvp.
Really Sucks, honestly Coca's been one of the best Zergs in code S over the past few months. Even putting up better results than more hyped players like Losira, or Drg.
We are not really losing him. he is not being kicked out, he will probably not be allowed to play in tourneys for a few weeks-months and then he will come back(If he wishes ofc)
Don't lose hope man, you still have thousands of fans out here.
If worst comes to worst, maybe he will get picked up by a foreign team and compete in the foreign scene? If guys like TT1 and Spades are still allowed to compete in NASL, IPL, and MLG, there is still hope for Coca.
Sad to hear the recent events. Question about fan page thou. Why does the video that I assume would highlight some of his play involve 2 games with 2base roach/ling timings. Not to mention 1 was a loss. Just a thought but id update with better games.

I really don't think it will, or at least shouldn't. I don't think he is completely innocent in that situation, but it really just seems like he didn't think things through, and mid game he was just thinking "whatever, I guess I can give this win to him since I don't need the spot."
Getting kicked out of the SlayerS house and losing his Code S spot is huge though. Hopefully he comes back.

Yeah mentally it has to be devastating and we've all seen how much mental state affects players ability to perform. It could be a long time before he recovers from this.
Sign me up. It really sucks that he's getting so much shit for this, he certainly doesn't deserve the same treatment as sAviOr. He's a really talented player and I hope he returns to the GSL soon.
This can be said about the same thing as Oz vs YugiOh at the up and down. many people said Oz threw the game so YugiOh gets the code S spot rather then keen. but where do we draw the line????

There game was not as obvious.... He was not 100 supply ahead and then responds to someone saying fuck fuck fuck by saying want to go to game three or some shit.... I feel so sorry for him though, if anything Byun should get in trouble.. I can kind of see what he was thinking, but I hope this does not trash his career/motivation T___________T
I know he didnt have any bad intentions. Just wanting to help a buddy out. Rules are rules though but hopefully people can forget and forget provided that coca is more careful in the future.
Full moral support for Coca. Hope this silly misunderstanding is cleared out quickly. But if not, I'm sure he'll be even stronger upon his return to the top. I'm not worried about him, as long as he doesn't quit SC2. There's time ahead, still very likely next year to win some GSLs like a boss. Coca fighting!
I don't think he understood the gravity of deciding to throw a game and announcing it while so many people were watching. He probably thought that doing so wouldn't really affect much in the long run, but it damages the credibility of professional SC2 in Korea. That being said, I hope he learns that he should be more careful about what he does while he represents his team and the entire SC2 scene as a whole and that he bounces right back. Someone with this sort of talent shouldn't be screwed out of a career because of one mishap.
Slayers Coca fighting! One of my favorite player and I hope to see him soon. Everything is blown out of proportion and he should've just not shown up for the match to give byun the win but what can you do now. Hope to see you back in action!

This is huge overreaction, he should get a warning and a tap on the wrist. There is no reason to kick him out of slayers for something like this, I really hope he moves back to practice with slayers since they do have probably the best terrans to practice against (yeah yeah no MVP but the rest)
Best of luck in the future Coca and will be cheering for you no matter what team you go to (hopefully slayers though:D)

To be fair, I don't think one has to practice in the teamhouse to get good. Obviously it's better to, but look at Taeja: he's a beast, and he doesn't even practice with the SlayerS gang all that much, apparently.
If anything, I'd expect it to be more of the mental blow than the actual practice that'll have an impact on CoCa's form, if he does indeed start playing worse.

I certainly hope so. I don't want to have to write more of the detailed appeals I've been sending to SlayerS and GOMtv.
As far as I know, it's now only up to SlayerS, to lift his ban from any competitive SC2. The GSL only revoked his Code S for the season (GSL Nov) that has already passed. ESV Korean Weekly also only banned him until January, so theoretically he could return and compete even there in January - if SlayerS let him play soon enough. Fingers crossed. It's my Christmas wish.

Not sure if that counts as a good sign - but Byun played officially for Prime vs Liquid in IPL --> hence, Prime has lifted his temporary ban from any progaming, which was similar to Coca's from Slayers. I really really hope to see Coca in the next GSL season, can't wait. (and hopefully streaming too!!)

Hopefully we can see him back, maybe in the GSTL? Then again, Slayers' punishment on Coca was more severe than Prime's punishment for Byun.
No CoCa for this season I guess SlayerS should've let him play from the start, like Prime did for Byun.
SlayerS' line up during the GSTL 2012 Season 1
But he's not in games line up, huh. I know that there's Eve, Soccer(?), Lots(?) and 1 more guy that I don't know who don't play too. But I found wierd that they don't use him if he's back.
I think it's pretty ridiculous possibly a top-3 zerg player is nowhere to be found in the tournament scene because of some arbitrary restriction his team puts on him.
I was really glad when I saw the news of CoCa returning to next season Code A qualifiers! Goodluck! Really enjoy your play Also great plus for the way you handled the aftermath of the match between you and Byun Hope to see you win Code S in 2 seasons :D

Yeah I agree, but at least it is online so LAN nerves don't come into play. Go Coca! Back to Code A!
CoCa looked pretty sick all week. I missed his ZvP game (Q_Q) but all his ZvTs looked super solid. Thank god for tournaments like the Korean weekly or we'd never get to see the kid play
did winning 1 ESV really make such huge difference in his ELO that he'd 6th place? I check the TLPD pretty often and was quite surprised to see Coca and Life jump out of no where to 6th and 7th place on the ELO.
Oh my god. Coca has a REALLY good chance at getting the EWM CODE A SEED!
All he has to do is beat Losira in a BO3 ZvZ, and beat San or Tear (both Protoss) which he can easily do.. Then beat someone in the finals and he gets it.

But i mean, Coca's ZvP and ZvT are Code A/S level. Though ZvZ keeps blocking him.
What i will say is that i feel like Code B is full of Zergs that are some how lopsidedly good at ZvZ. Really unfortunate for Coca.

Thank you. CoCa's Fan Club hasn't been updated in such a long time that it was looking so sad.

we don't know exactly yet; i believe OSL will have the dual tournament in august sometime and then the RO16 (ie OSL proper) in september, but no released scheduled yet i think.
also coca will probably try and qualify for WCS on july 22-23 you could put that in!

Well with his team falling apart, being unable to get into code A and a good friend puzzle leaving for LoL and LoL's popularity in Korea coca decided to call it quits and join him.
Loved Coca in sc2. Now that I'm more a LoL player than sc2 player, I'm excited to watch him play in this new game! Any word on what (if any) team him, puzzle and min are going to?
Soooo sad. Coca playing zerg in SC2 was one of the coolest things to watch.
Thank you for everything, Coca, I learned a lot from your streaming, and also how to be a better person. I will remember you. Good luck with your life, man.
Really sad to see Coca go to LoL. He was one of the few zergs I really liked and I really would have enjoyed seeing him play in the GSL again. Good luck with your new game!

He's done nothing in LoL and I haven't heard a single thing anywhere from him and I like to think I pay close attention to Korean LoL so I wouldn't be surprised if he decides to switch back for hots seeing as LoL isn't working. I hope so anyway even as a LoL fan I want to see the best zerg ever show these scrubs how it's done.
Is this the account named Coca? Because his original account name was in Korean. I saw this Coca on Hyun's stream yesterday night as well, I wonder if it's really him.
I would really love for Coca to come back. Hope this is the case. He's a creative guy, with the transition to Hots he could make it back with hard work.

I'm assuming CoCa mainly left SC2 over the SlayerS drama, and now that SlayerS is gone, he can let go of the past and start fresh in HotS. Considering we never heard any news of him in LoL, maybe his competitive spirit was only kindled in SC2, and now with a skill reset, he can play the game that really captured his mind.

I say Axiom or AZUBU will be CoCa's preferred teams, but I could see ST or IM also picking him up. Axiom has that SlayerS connection without the ties to the old management, and AZUBU is an up-and-coming team with great players and a hunger for new players. ST and IM might want to rejuvenate their rosters, especially ST with them losing some key players recently.
IM has a stacked roster since they got Ragnarok, ByuL and Squirtle so I don't think CoCa would go there. Axiom and Startale seem pretty reasonable choices tho.
I've only recently watched CoCa's games and I gotta say his play looked impressive. Hope he's coming back.

Don't think AZUBU they're probably content with their roster and their venture capital has to have some kind of reasonable limit, axiom or an already established esf team would be more likely.
hope for coca to prime, best buddies with byun haha. prime could use a good zerg, but they really don't have much 'purchasing power' compared to a team with money

I think a point we're missing is that he'll be fresh back on the scene, teams may go "We have no guarantee if he will be worth the money" it may be the chance prime has to get him by offering him a more preferable environment (And byun might be a good sway)

yes!!! CoCaPrime please! One of my favorite zergs. Would love to see him come back to sc2
Coca is not part of Slayers' original roster. He's a Zenex guy. Even as Slayers disbanded, him and Puzzle, the other Zenex player, went on their own ways. This is why I didn't see him going to Axiom right away.
This made me wonder, and I checked Puzzle's account... What do you know, Puzzle has also just started playing again. Guess who he's playing custom games with...
I really hope CoCa comes back T.T He is my 2nd favorite player after MMA! I wanted to check up on how he was doing few weeks ago on his transition to LoL, but can't find anything that relates to it. I stopped watching sc2 after SlayerS disbanded, so sad. I do watch once in a while randomly, but I would watch more CoCa games if he come back!

Well if Puzzle and CoCa are both playing SC2 again, we might have a full-on ZeNEX reunion in StarTale.

Bingo!!!
Puzzle has been playing custom games against Line's account, observed by coach Yun.
I wouldn't be surprised if Puzzle goes to ST. They've lost 2 top Protoss, and Puzzle was one of the best when he still played, before all the Slayers drama.
About CoCa, not so sure, they already have a pretty big Zerg roster, but CoCa is a real talent.

Well Ryung was a Prime player
So was July. He recruited MKP. Bring back old Prime and add Coca!
Puzzle and Coca on Axiom would be amazing, they were both top 8 in the GSL at one point, and I could actually see axiom winning with the gstl with the old slayers roster... Go get 'em TB!

-Deep breath-
I don't know, I don't think Startale would be the best team for those two. Remember, it was Startale's Coach Won who set up the practice boycott with Slayers, and effectively made the Slayers players, including Puzzle and Coca, outcasts in the Korean scene. Coach Won even had to step down as ESF president after the situation was publicized. It might be awkward.
Obviously as a Slayers fan, I'd love to see the team come together (Axiom please), but an international team that could give these guys a lot of opportunities in foreign tournaments would be nice too. We saw how successful Alicia was at foreign tournaments in 2012, there's a good chance that if Coca and Puzzle were given more chances, they could have done even better results-wise.
CoCa's comeback after SlayerS lifted his competition ban was so surprisingly good after not having competed I felt like he must have been some kind of genius. Too bad he only played a few televised games before SlayerS broke down and he quit. If he does comeback he will probably instantly be my favorite player.
To be honest I'd like him to join MVP. There's no point - I think - in reoinforcing top SC2 team like IM, ST or apparently Azubu. MVP and NSH are here, too! And in MVP he can work with DRG.
MVP is already good enough, prime/nsh needs them more ;D

i felt byun's was more impressive
Well of course, you're a Prime fan :p
Byun did have an amazing comeback, making it all the way to the GSL Ro4. Coca performed really well in the GSTL, getting an all kill and was the MVP of that GSTL season. They both did pretty well, and it was a shame that they both made the mistake they did back in November 2011.
I'm so happy to hear he's back! He had a weird time in WoL, hopefully his HoTS experience is better. I hope he gets picked up by a good, stable team soon.
Sign me up. Just in time for Dreamhack too. Coca didn't do as well as I would've hoped in the Code A qualifiers but hopefully he can manage a top 8 finish at Dreamhack. It won't be easy with all the good players there, but I think he can have a good tournament if he has been practicing a lot recently.

Still doing well on KR ladder, he also changed his keyboard recently. He will face Nerchio in Group E of Dreamhack, and 2 players coming from the first Group Stage. Can't wait !

Do you know which account he is on the ladder? There are too many barcodes :p
Coca smashed lots of nerd ballers today, well done! (: Too bad casters were ignoring many good matches of Coca... hope there are replays from the event at least. Gogo gl further, Coca fighting!
Leenock will be hard but still going straight back into a game from LoL and getting top 8 with wins over stephano and oz is still pretty damn good hope he gets a nice team.
CoCa showed tremendous effort in DreamHack, and he performed better than I expected honestly. At his current pace, CoCa is progressing very well from his transition from LoL, and I expect to see more out of him in the future.
After his performance at dreamhack, I think CoCa can easily find a team. He had a record of 11-7 which is about a 60% win rate which is very good. Losing to Leenock in the quarterfinals is perfectly fine considering that Leenock hasn't lost any games up until this point.

Not really that impressive for a Korean considering the KR/foreigner ratio.
He did better than, Forgg, Center, Zenio, Yughio, Sage, Puzzle, Jyp, MC and Oz. And as well as Hyun and Gumiho and they all have teams.
Keep in mind there's a good chance hes as good as he is right now from just ladder. What im saying is he should be able to get even better in a more structured training environment, that a team would provide.

Are you trying to imply that people who aren't on teams have no practice partners?
I can't say for certain but he may be right. That account doesn't have any activity for seasons 9 and 10 which is around the time that CoCa went to play League of Legends. Also, it makes sense that CoCa would play so many games on ladder considering that he hasn't played Starcraft 2 in months.
There's an account named CoCa that's been hovering around top 5 for the last week, at the moment it's #1 on the KR ladder. Assuming it's our CoCa, pretty cool to see ^ ^

I'm hoping there's some over-the-shoulder stuff shot by Khaldor ^^ awesome to see him back in the running!
It's disappointing to see CoCa lose in the first round of Code A, but he hasn't been playing well for some reason lately. Hopefully, he'll start to pick things up once he gets used to being in a team setting again.
Good times ahead! Proleague is starting tomorrow with the preseason showmatches, and CoCa will play the first game of the 2014 proleague. Get ready to see (finally) more of him very soon :
CoCa looked really impressive last night. I particularly liked his use of the overlord speed to scout the stargate from Stats. There was never really a point where he looked like he was in trouble.
