Name: 김동주 Kim Dong Ju Birthday: December 30, 1987 Race: Terran Current Team: compLexity Team History: Woongjin Stars(BW), Incredible Miracle, SlayerS GanZiGanZi(BW) GanZiGanZi(BW) Twitter
GanZi was a former Brood War player on the Woongjin Stars A-Team. Some of his notable victories in BW were over Jaedong, Much, Kwanro and SlayerS Boxer. When he first started SC2 he joined Incredible Miracle and qualified for Code A a couple times. He then quit the team to join SlayerS. There he became one of their star players helping them win the GSTL and winning Code A once and getting deep in Code S a couple times. GanZi recently left SlayerS to join a foreign team and hopefully live abroad and was picked up by compLexity after his impressive run as a free agent as the MLG Winter Championships.

Lolz, I always find it funny that people get fan clubs right when they beat some famous player. He's a good player though, but he's code B right now correct? That sucks, those qualifiers are hard

I wanted to make a fanclub for him for awhile since I was a BW fan, but I didn't think he deserved one till today :p

It's okay, I wanted to make a fanclub for Alicia for a while but only got around to it after he beat MC. LOL
I wish people would stop getting fanclubs after single wins...it's truly bandwagoning. Not saying Ganzi doesn't deserve a fanclub, but no-one would be here if he didn't just beat MVP, and people aren't going to follow him closely in a month's time. It's the same with DongRaeGu, people liked him after the Messages from Korea feature he was in, but the fanclub didn't pop up until he started stomping in GSTL.

I dunno.
Or maybe people have wanted to make fanclubs for the players for a while, and decided that a high-profile win would be the best timing to do so. It's not like it's completely on the basis of a single win. You say that you're not saying Ganzi doesn't deserve a fanclub. Okay - so when should he get a fanclub then? Perhaps at some completely arbitrary time as to not offend you? Fanclub following high-profile win =/= sole reason for fanclub.

Another great series against MVP so far, 1 more game to win the group! You can go it GanZi! Also is there a way to edit titles(I am a noob at posting here)? Would like to change it to The SlayerS_GanZi Fanclub
Very happy with his performance this weekend, he showed some amazing games. 4th place for his first foreign tournament with that player pool was amazing. Hope he goes to Providence so I can meet him.

I don't think he is getting the Code A invite Has not been confirmed but someone said no Koreans getting it even if they were not invited through the league exchange. Hopefully he can get through the Qualifiers this time.
With his first game, I knew Ganzi is an extraordinary player and not just another terran. While I got tired of terran, Ganzi plays smart and with precision and always is a good watch.
Felt so sad, when he realised he made the single mistake and his tournament went down the toilet Hopefully he uses it as motivation to get to that next level. Sign me up!
Congratulations Ganzi! It was nice seeing you at MLG and it was even better seeing you win code A. You make TvT so exciting to watch with your various openings.
Lots of love for this guy, I was very touched by the way he won over MKP, a very emotional moment. Nothing taken away from MKP, a totally great effort by him and MKP shouldnt worry - he will be in Code-S soon enough too!
I am so proud of you Ganzi. I feel bad that I only took notice of you in MLG Columbus. But I was happy to watch your entire Code A run. Good luck in Code S and smash more nerd faces. : )
As my favorite players, it breaks my heart that you and Losira will go at it in the opening game for your GSL groups. </3 But I hope you and Losira will move on to the round of 16.
Been a fan of him since the Super Tournament, this guy has sick mech play. Up there with MMA, Clide and MVP. He has the mental fortitude and talent to win a GSL in the future. Sign me up.
Ganzi seemt very nervous yesterday and I think for that those games were so sloppy. If he can calm his nerves, I think he might have a chance against Mvp, but that means not much room for mistakes
2-0 his group in GSL November, dominated his group and beat Curious to get to the final four of AOL Team Ace, and going to MLG Providence next week? November could be a big month for this man. Go Ganzi and sign me up please!
PS: Is it just me or does he kind of resemble an Asian Charlie Sheen?
Ganzi Nooooo! Realistically, he should be able to get back into Code S by beating Lucky or Nada in the Ro24. Ganzi is a more solid player atm than Nada, while Lucky's TvZ has never impressed me, rely on roach-ling all-ins and "lucky" burrowed banelings.
GanZi really needs to work on his TvP :/ so weak. I know Gatored is a great player(watched him destroy oGsTOP live at IEM) but it sorta is sad that he always gets wrecked by Toss. He needs to practice with Puzzle and Alicia more! Anyways GL in the losers bracket GanZi
The Game 1 proxy rax was extremely impressive. It takes real balls and knowledge of your opponent's scouting patterns to do such a build and succeed at it.
He was in IM before he was in SlayerS, that was always his ladder account. Either he already used his name change before he joined IM or he doesn't know about it. A lot of players ladder accounts are like that.
Can anybody confirm what Ganzi said in a direct translation for what he said about MMA? Some people are claiming that John the translator did not accurately translate some of what he said about "wishing an accident happened to MMA," etc.

i dont have a ticket so i cant get the korean ver without john speaking over the audio, but from what i can hear he said this
ganzi: i've said some aggressive comments to mma before, and they're all true. i feel so comfortable in the team house now (since mma is gone). i wish an accident would happen so his return (cant hear over john after this, but it could be "so his return would be delayed" or "so he can't return". prob the latter since that's what john said). MMA works hard. he really does... but the world is unfair. all the luck goes to mma, and only he got sent to a tournament again. i want to fight him, but i cant even pick him. mr chae: if you get to ro4 this season, you can pick mma next season ganzi: after i get high this season, my goal (or target) isnt MC or some such, but if i just beat MMA, i think i'd be satisfied. mr chae: then promise us this: if you get to ro4 this season and you can pick mma next season, will you do it? ganzi: yes, without a question
so yes he did say that line, but he was joking. at the same time, you can tell from his face and the half-hearted laugh that he really is frustrated with mma's success, and the lack of his own.
Wow, Ganzi has had an incredible tournament run already, losing 1-2 to DRG, then 2-0 Pomi, 2-0 MVP, 2-1 Socke and now 2-0 MC. Top 8 already at the MLG Winter Arena. Go Ganzi!

Ahaha, Ganzi's got an opportunity for some of his own success right now. Go Ganzi! I liked him a lot more since he won code A and showed so much emotion.

Can't say I blame him. He is already one of the most successful Korean players, having won Code A and making it to the Code S semis, as well as coming within 1 game of winning the Arena of Legends tournament. But everyone forgets him because MMA is just that much more successful.

Was away all weekend so I didn't buy the Winter Arena, can't wait for the vods go free, really want to see the MVP and MC games. He is now 3-2 record against MVP at foreign tournaments and overall a 6-8 record which is amazing since MVP has some of the best TvT in the world with a ~70% win ratio. Hope he had a good time overall, said he was going to go sightseeing NYC after he got eliminated.
Here's some photos of Ganzi from MLG Winter Arena! I talked to him briefly at the afterparty, he was very friendly. Sad to see him lose vs HerO, hope he can make it in to Code S via the up/down matches!
TT so close, still an amazing run for him. Can't think of the last time a free agent got so far in a tournament like this, hope some team picks him up after a run like that
I feel a little bad for Ganzi because he did so amazingly well, and it largely went under the radar. I had not seen much of his play before, but he's very standard and solid—he's a good person for a Terran, who is trying to get better, to watch. Ganzi didn't have the mechanical speed that some other players did, but his strategic thinking and reactions were every bit as good as the best players. It was a pleasure watching his games this weekend. He won't be teamless for very long.
You guys realize he's going to be on TL, right? R1CH is constantly tweeting him and talking about him, and Haypro said there will be 9 Liquid players at IPL4, when there's only 8, which was obviously some foreshadowing and not a mistake.

R1CH has been talking to GanZi on twitter for awhile(Since before he left SlayerS), and he doesn't do anything for the team so that's not really a definite sign saying GanZi is going to join. Yeah I want him to join Liquid' and there are some signs saying he might go there but I don't like to make assumptions. That Haypro interview wasn't an official announcement, you don't really know if he was trolling or just made a mistake counting members or including Nazgul, also GanZi said today he wasn't sure if he was going to IPL4 or not. Also he wants to live abroad in the US for awhile and Liquid doesn't have any team houses besides the oGs house in Korea. Lets just wait and see where he is going(hopefully Liquid' tho :D)
Wooo 2nd place in groups and top 4 overall so far. Wish I was around in the day time to see the games. Him getting 2nd in groups guarantees him a top 4 spot which means he gets to go to the next arena and gets seeded into MLG Anaheim pool play. Also will be getting at least $1,100 from this Arena and free travel to the next arena and normal mlg event. So happy for him right now
What a good series against Polt, Can't wait for MC vs GanZi in the next round. In the past in Korea before he went to Foreign tournaments MC would always stomp him but recently at MLGs GanZi was won every series against him. Should be really good games.
Hey ganzi you were 15th on the MLG power ranking! #15 coL.GanZi
Poor Ganzi. He always produces good results (Code A winner, round of 4 GSL, consistent MLG placements), but his un-flashy play combined with his unassuming personality doesn't make for many fans. He's also not particularly strong or weak at a certain matchup and doesn't have huge quirks in this play, which doesn't make for many good storylines. You can probably expect Ganzi do well again at this MLG, but will his games blow you out of the park and will he follow up his wins with outlandish ceremonies? Probably not.
It says you lack good celebrations? Can us fans hope to see some big ceremony after big win? ^^;; <3 big fan fighting~
Really needed win against MMA in EG MCSL, hopefully it'll allow the team to go to the ace match/finals , I'd just wish he'd stream more often but great job! Sign me up if I'm not there already, I'm a big fan!
Ganzi, nice interview with kennigit. Good luck in future tournaments. Hope you win the Iron Squid!!! Ganzi fighting! (really appreciate that you're doing an english interview, keep up the good work!)
Lovely interview, also made me feel bad. My theory of top-level Terrans being prone to wrist problems was being shut down through lack of names, and I totally had forgotten Ganzi. Great player, fine dancer and pretty awesome at English too!
The good thing is that now, after seeing you at Lone Star Clash 2, I am pretty sure you can understand your fans here!
I have been following you for quite some time. I was somewhat impressed that you left SlayerS and joigned a foreign team, but I was a bit worried that you skill would decrease in another environment. (truth to be told, your NASL S4 record is not that impressive)
But seeing you today reminded me of the days of your GSL Ro4 performance (it was GomTvT at the time). Keep getting better Ganzi, you're skilled enough to be top5 terran in the world! Keep on getting forward too, making interviews in english, and getting more fans!
Ganzi is just awesome, exactly the kind of person we need as a progamer to further grow esports Hope he gets a spot in code S soon so we can see some sick ceremonies :D
The way to make a game successful in Korea is to make them korean fangirls watch due to schmexy korean boys dancing during breaks. GOGO GANZI MAKE SC2 HUGE :D
