I hope he can do it, but looking at the bracket / group, it's difficult. groups are "paired" A with H , B with G, C with F etc... Stephano is in group E, paired with group D.
the first of each paired group play against the second of the other groupe.
E : Stephano / Idra / Roro / hero D ; Rain / Babyknight / mafia / state
without upset, Rain should be first in his group. Rain is also the favorite to win the tournament.
So stephano MUST be first in his group to get an "easy" path to the money.
I think Stephano can beat Rain if he is playing at his best Yes but the problem is that he can lose as well. What the guy above is trying to say is that its better to hope for an easier bracket to play the weaker opponents.
Ah i see, i misread I agree

Yes
its better to hope for an easier bracket to play the weaker opponents.
In fact i hope he face rain and beat him, and win the final, in that order, but it will not be easy.

The stupid thing here is to make random groupstages/bracket and no loser's bracket. It's neither fair nor entertaining since we end up with fucked up groups and money contenders have to wish for bracket luck (and have you seen the distribution of the cash prize, is it just absurd: second makes 2.5 time the amount of the third without even facing him and 5 time the amount of the fourth, and first make 12.5 times the amount of the fourth...). With that cash prize distribution, you really have to have a loser's bracket or a good seeding system...
|
^agree so much. with so much money on the line this random seeding system is just retarded
|
not relevant in a FC, but i agree.
|
Stephano can beat Rain again if they meet. First he has to get out of his Group before worrying about future opponents.
|
Stephano could win the whole thing or be out in the group stage, the one or the other won't be a big surprise for me, because HerO is still scary and ZvZ is still volatile.
I surely hope he will go as far as possible.
|
It just dawned on me that Stephano looks like Zlatan Ibrahimovic xD
|
only in the pic on the banner.

Stephano HAS to have the first place in group, because that way he avoid Rain in ro16 and then when have a great and epic PvZ finale where Stephano beat Rain and become a true legend of starcraft II, the one we will talk about even when Stacraft 2 will be replace by the next Blizzard STR !

This, let's hope for the best.

exceptional ZvP, making HerO look amateur-ish in first game

Do we know when is the next game for Stephano? (PST or local :D)

Stephano certainly did just that, not to be mean but I was picturing HerO crying as game 2 was progressing.

So with this victory of BabyKnight over Rain, shouldn't it be better fo Stephano to lose against Idra (then win Hero again)?
|
I don't think Rain will be a problem at all for Stephano. Sure his 3 base immortal blink all-in is strong but if you look at current Stephano style in ZvP with heavy zergling upgrade and infestor he should be fine.

I was wondering that, too (especially as it would help Idra/a teammate advance, too) -- not sure if that sort of unsportsmanship-like behaviour would be punished though, if it would be too obvious.
So just win, Stephano ! <3
(and I'm sure he'll be able to beat Rain (like HerO) on a good day anytime anyways)

very intresting situation. but i dont think stephano will loose to protoss here
|
I feel bad for saying this but it's the best way he can advance further in this tournament. He sacrificed a lot of small groups of hydras and it seemed fishy to me...
|
wel, better not lose to HerO now.
